Williamson wins, Men's Cross Country ends in second

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. -- John-Paul Williamson captured his fifth career title today while helping the Lindsey Wilson men's cross country team to a second-place finish at the Mid-South Conference Preview at Phil Moore Park.

Williamson broke the tape in 24 minutes and 44 seconds to finish four seconds ahead of his nearest competitor and 35 seconds in front of the next collegiate harrier in the 51-man race.

The race was held at the site for the Mid-South Conference Championships in November.

Austin Childress joined Williamson in the race's top 10. Childress posted a personal-best 28:16 to end the race in 10th place.

Joining Childress with personal bests in the race was Zach Carr and Eddie Weaver. Carr finished in 20th with a 29:07 while Weaver closed with a 29:49, good enough for 29th.

Clay Priddy concluded in 16th place with a 28:45 and Ben Hoffman ended with a 29:38 and 27th spot.

The Blue Raiders finished with 65 team points to end in second behind Campbellsville's (Ky.) 26 points.

Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 3 p.m. CT on Oct. 9 at the NAIA Preview in Charlotte, North Carolina.
