No. 22 Women's Basketball concludes four-game road trip with victory over Georgetown, 64-52

GEORGETOWN, Ky. -- The 22nd-ranked Lindsey Wilson women's basketball team closed out their four-game road swing on Saturday afternoon as they rebounded from a close loss on Thursday to take down Georgetown, 64-52.

Chanel Roberts was the lone Blue Raider (15-4, 4-3 Mid-South Conference) to hit double figures with a game-high 16 points. Billie Hearn and Teanna Curry each chipped in with nine points, while Hearn tied her season-high with 12 rebounds -- seven of which came in the first quarter.

After Lindsey Wilson and Georgetown traded three-pointers on back-to-back possessions, the Blue Raiders went on an 8-0 run to take an 11-3 lead with 3:29 left in the first quarter. The Tigers came within six points, but the Blue Raiders scored six of the final eight points in the quarter to extend their lead to 17-7 heading into the second quarter.

Lindsey Wilson scored the first four points of the second quarter to stretch their lead to 21-7 with 8:30 to play in the quarter. Georgetown tried to cut into their deficit, but the Blue Raiders kept their lead at double digits until Teonia McCune hit a free throw to make it a 27-18 game with 1:55 left in the first half.

The Tigers came within seven points with 44 seconds left on the clock in the second quarter, but Lindsey Wilson took a 29-20 lead into half, after Cameron McPherson closed out the scoring in the quarter.

In the first half, the Blue Raiders shot 33.3 percent from the field, while holding Georgetown to 25.8 percent shooting.

To start the third quarter, both teams traded baskets and Georgetown pulled within six points at the 5:40 mark in the quarter as Lindsey Wilson clinged to a 33-27 lead. The Blue Raiders went on a 6-0 run to regain a double digit lead, 39-27, with 2:52 left in the third quarter.

In the final moments of the third quarter, Lindsey Wilson continued to stretch their lead as they took a 46-32 lead into the fourth quarter after Heidi Huffman hit a three-pointer at the buzzer.

The Blue Raiders took their largest lead of the game early in the fourth quarter as Roberts gave Lindsey Wilson a 54-37 advantage with 7:32 to play in regulation. The Tigers started to make a comeback as they went on 7-0 run to pull with 10 points of the Blue Raiders. However, Georgetown could not come any closer down the stretch as Lindsey Wilson put a stop to the Tiger run after a basket from Courtney Sandlin.

Down the stretch, the Blue Raiders maintained their double digit lead en route to a 64-52 victory over Georgetown on the road.

For the game, the Blue Raiders finished shooting 34.4 percent, compared to 28.9 percent from the Tigers.

Lindsey Wilson ends their four-game road swing with a record of 2-2 as they alternated wins and losses over the four games.

The Blue Raiders return home on Tuesday evening as they host Fisk (Tenn.) at Biggers Sports Center for a 5 p.m. CT tipoff.
