COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson men's and women's swim teams cruised to dual meet victories over Milligan (Tenn.) on Saturday at the Holloway Center Natatorium.
The Blue Raider men's team defeated the Milligan men's team 142-24, while the Lindsey Wilson women's team won 133-28.
It was nearly a clean sweep on the day as the women's team won every single event, with the men's squad winning all but one event on the day over the Buffaloes.
The Blue Raiders bookended the day with victories in the 200-yard medley relay and 200-yard freestyle relay races, achieving national "A" standards in all four relay events.
On the women's side, Raeanne Spears, Emily Wood, Caitlin Freeny and Hailee Scheffer combined to win the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 2:07.14 to open the day. Laura Stephenson, Courtney Fleeger, Bailey Seitz and Elena Nikolaeva then closed out the day with a first-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:46.54.
On the men's side, Mark Richard, Taylor Thompson, Travis Durocher and Ryan Leamy recorded a 1:46.42 in the 200-yard medley relay event to start the men's events. Clemens Patzold, Jose Prado de Lima, Iker Larzabal and Zachary Patzer closed out the day with a win in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:31.96.
Wood won the 200-yard freestyle event with a "B" standard time of 2:06.51, adding another victory in the 100-yard breaststroke on the day.
Nikolaeva added another individual cut in the 50-yard freestyle, touching the wall in 25.91 to earn a "B" standard. She later achieved a national "A" standard in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:02.62, winning the event.
Stephenson collected a pair of "B" cuts on the day, first in the 200-yard individual medley at 2:17.63, and later in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:02.10.
Seitz and Scheffer also both collected individual wins, Seitz grabbing hers in the 100-yard freestyle and Scheffer earning hers in the 500-yard freestyle event.
On the men's side, Jonas Mueller earned a "B" cut in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:01.91.
The lone victory for the Buffaloes on the day came in the 100-yard freestyle as Grant Callahan edged out Patzold for the win with a time of 48.96. Patzold still recorded a "B" standard as he finished second in the race at 49.11.
Other wins for the men's team on the day came from Patzer (200 free), Larzabal (200 IM), Gage Setzer (100 fly), Patzold (100 back) and Leamy (500 free).
The wins move the women's team to 8-1 in dual meet competitions on the year while the men's team improves to 7-1.
Lindsey Wilson returns to the pool on Saturday, Jan., 23 as the Blue Raiders host Cumberlands (Ky.) and Bethel (Tenn.) in the regular-season finale.
