COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson men's swim team suffered a 139-66 dual loss on Saturday at the hands of Cumberlands (Ky.) at the Holloway Center Natatorium.
The Blue Raiders were able to capture just four individual event wins on the day against the Patriots.
Iker Larzabal captured the first LWC win of the afternoon after he touched the wall first in the 200-yard freestyle event with a time of one minute and 49.57 seconds. He narrowly edged out the second-place finisher from Cumberlands by .17 seconds.
Clemens Paetzold collected his first victory of the day after posting a time of 2:01.06 in the 200-yard individual medley. He won the event by just under two seconds. Paetzold nabbed his second win in the 100-yard backstroke with his time of 55.41.
Jonas Mueller accounted for the final Blue Raider win on the day as he took home the victory in the 100-yard breaststroke with his time of 59.92 seconds. His time was good enough for a national "A" standard.
The Blue Raiders added a trio of runner-up finishes on the day.
The 200-yard medley relay team of Paetzold, Mueller, Jose Prado de Lima and Larzabal took second with a time of 1:38.17, falling just .15 seconds behind the winning time. Travis Durocher added a second place in the 100-yard butterfly with his time of 55.54 seconds. Larzabal accounted for the final second place with his runner-up in the 100-yard freestyle.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action on Oct. 15 for a dual with West Virginia Tech.
