MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- Tony Brackins' interception at midfield with 1:49 left in the game sealed No. 6-ranked Lindsey Wilson's 21-14 win over host Faulkner (Ala.) today at Billy D. Hilyer Stadium.

The win marked the first time in the six-game series' history the visiting team left with a win. Lindsey Wilson is now 4-2 all-time against the Eagles. All six meetings have been decided by one score.

The interception capped an impressive second-half shutout by the Blue Raiders (8-0, 2-0 in the MSC West) on a day when points were at a premium. The 35 combined points were the fewest in any one game in the series.

Lindsey Wilson limited Faulkner (3-4, 1-2) to just 101 yards in the second half and 332 yards total for the game.

The Faulkner defense matched the Blue Raiders' second-half stinginess. Lindsey Wilson was held scoreless in a half for the first time this season, after posting 21 first-half points. The Blue Raiders ended the game with a season-low 333 yards of total offense.

Lindsey Wilson had its chances in the second half. The Blue Raiders entered the red zone twice, but a missed field goal and an interception in the endzone prevented Lindsey Wilson from building its lead.

Ultimately, Lindsey Wilson won the field-position battle with its host in the scoreless half -- Faulkner's average starting position was its own 26-yard line. Hunter Lovell aided in that battle, averaging 43.6 yards per punt in his season-high five punts.

Lindsey Wilson extended its best start to a season with its eighth win today.

The Blue Raiders jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the opening half.

Jalen Sublett scored on a one-yard surge to cap a 10-play, 75-yard drive on the Blue Raiders' opening drive. The touchdown is Sublett's 11th this season on the ground -- breaking a tie with Rome Cotton for the single-season record.

Two drives later Dylan Beasley found Cedric Washington in the back of the endzone on fourth-and-goal from the nine-yard line for the two-score lead.

Faulkner responded with a touchdown on its first drive of the second quarter. Joe Jones punched it in from the two-yard line to cut the deficit in the half.

It took the Blue Raiders just two plays to reclaim a 14-point advantage.

Beasley connected with Mikey Davis over the middle on first-and-15 -- following a delay of game penalty -- and then hit a streaking Lovell for 51 yards for the 21-7 lead. Lovell finished with three catches and a team-high 84 yards. Beasley completed 23-of-37 passes for 303 yards -- his seventh career 300-yard passing game.

Faulkner trimmed the Lindsey Wilson lead to 21-14 on a 13-play, 69-yard drive with 4:12 left in the half.

The Eagles took advantage of a pair of Blue Raiders penalties on the drive -- one on third down and another on fourth down -- each time resulting in a new set of downs. Following a pass interference penalty in the endzone, Jones notched his second touchdown of the day from the four-yard line to cut the deficit to seven. He finished the game rushing for 52 yards and the two scores.

Neither team scored on its final drive of the half as Lindsey Wilson took the 21-14 lead into the locker room.

The second half proved to be a chess match with each defense making plays and key stops.

Trent Mueller led the Blue Raiders with nine tackles, including one of the team's three tackles for a loss. Steve Wallace added a season-high eight tackles, Brackins had three tackles to go along with his interception -- the Blue Raiders' 10th takeaway over the last four games.

Faulkner's Clayton Nicholas finished the game 25-of-48 for 220 passing yards and the one interception. Jonathan McNair finished with a game-high 10 catches for 58 yards.

Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 1 p.m. CT on Saturday, Oct. 22, as the Blue Raiders host No. 3-ranked Reinhardt (Ga.) at Blue Raider Stadium.
