Box Score COLUMBIA, Ky. – Four players scored in double figures as No. 5-ranked Lindsey Wilson cruised past Brescia (Ky.) 109-72 on Saturday afternoon at Biggers Sports Center.
J'Nayah Hall led the Blue Raiders (3-0) with 21 points. Also eclipsing double-digit points for Lindsey Wilson were Chanel Roberts (15), Heidi Huffman (13) and Courtney Sandlin (11).
Saturday was the Blue Raiders' first game with 100 or more points since they scored 128 against St. Mary-of-the-Woods (Ind.) on Feb. 3, 2016.
Lindsey Wilson scored the first 15 points of the game and never looked back. Roberts served as the motor for the Blue Raider offense early, scoring seven points in the first four minutes and 11 points in the opening 10 minutes.
The Blue Raiders steadily built their lead in the first quarter and led by 20 when the buzzer sounded. Hannah DeBruin drilled a three-pointer in the waning second of the quarter to make the score 33-13.
Lindsey Wilson shot 13-of-23 in the first quarter and held the Bearcats (0-3) to 25 percent shooting.
The Blue Raiders continued pulling away in the second quarter, pushing the lead to 34 points with 1:19 remaining after Hall made a layup.
Hall finished the half with 13 points to lead Lindsey Wilson. The Blue Raiders held a decisive edge on the boards – out-rebounding Brescia 30-14 in the first half.
The Bearcats showcased more fight in the third quarter, trimming the lead to 27 twice, but another late three-pointer, this time by Huffman, made the score 83-51 going into the final period.
With one quarter to go, Lindsey Wilson sprinted to the finish line and built its largest lead of the game at 39 points on four separate occasions.
Lindsey Wilson finished the game shooting 52.3 percent (45-of-86) and committed only 10 turnovers to 24 assists. Hall was the model of efficiency, requiring only 12 shots to score 21 points.
Michelle Montgomery finished the contest with nine points and a game-high nine rebounds.
Kelsey Kirkpatrick led all scorers with 22 points and made six of nine attempts from deep. Brescia out-shot the Blue Raiders from bonus land – 39.3 percent to 31.6 percent.
Lindsey Wilson takes the court again on Monday, traveling to Martin Methodist (Tenn.) Tipoff is scheduled for 5 p.m. CT.
