GAINESVILLE, Ga. – The Lindsey Wilson men's and women's swim teams both finished in third place on Saturday at the Brenau Invitational at the Francis Meadows Aquatic Center.
The Blue Raiders broke multiple school records throughout the two-day event, while also recording or bettering national standard times.
Lindsey Wilson's men's started the weekend by breaking the program's previous school record in the 200-yard medley relay. The 800-yard freestyle relay team followed by setting a new school record in the event.
The women's relay team got in on the record-breaking action as the 800-yard freestyle team set a new school record by over seven seconds, finishing in second place overall in the event.
Ines Khiyara had a strong showing in individual events throughout the weekend. She won the 100 and 200-yard breaststroke events and the 400-yard individual medley race, improving on her national "A" standard times in all three events. She even broke the school record in the 400 IM and added another "A" cut in the 200-yard individual medley.
Jessica Macdonald broke the school record in the 100-yard freestyle, while improving on her national "A" standard and capturing second place. She then added an "A" cut in the 50-yard freestyle and won the 200-yard freestyle event with a new school record time.
Emily Wood collected a trio of national "A" standards, doing so in the 1,650-yard freestyle, 200-yard freestyle and 500-yard freestyle events. Bailey Seitz added a "B" cut in the 50 free.
In the men's individual events, Gage Setzer secured an "A" cut in the 200-yard butterfly, and collected a pair of "B" cuts in the 100-yard butterfly and 200-yard IM events.
Jose Prado de Lima earned "A" cuts in the 1,650-yard freestyle, 100-yard butterfly and 500-yard freestyle. Michael Peck followed suit by grabbing a pair of "A" cuts in the 1,650 free and 500 free events.
Jonas Mueller won the 100-yard breaststroke event and improved his national "A" cut time this year, while Zachary Patzer grabbed an "A" cut in the 50 free and a "B" cut in the 100 fly. Travis Durocher claimed a "B" cut in the 200-yard butterfly and an "A" cut in the 100-yard butterfly.
Iker Larzabal and Clemens Paetzold both claimed "A" cuts in the 200 IM and Brennan Beckman nabbed a "B" cut in the 1,650 freestyle.
The Blue Raiders are back in action on Dec. 3 when they host Bethel (Tenn.) for a dual meet.
