WILMORE, Ky. – Kayla Styles, Chanel Roberts and Heidi Huffman each recorded season highs in points as the No. 5-ranked Lindsey Wilson women's basketball team held off Asbury (Ky.) on Tuesday night at the Luce Center Gymnasium.

Styles poured in a game-high 25 points and had 14 rebounds en route to her fifth-straight double-double. Roberts and Huffman also both finished with season highs in points with 21 and 15, respectively, as the Blue Raiders improved to 7-0 on the year.

Lindsey Wilson led 23-14 after the opening 10 minutes, but Asbury (2-4) surged ahead with a 19-3 run in the first six minutes of the second quarter to take a 33-26 lead. The Blue Raiders closed the gap in the final minutes of the quarter, but still found themselves trailing the Eagles 38-34 at halftime.

Asbury shot a blazing 52.2 percent from the floor in the first half including hitting 7-of-12 shots from three-point range. Lindsey Wilson shot 34.2 percent from the field in the opening half and the Blue Raiders continued to struggle from the perimeter, going 0-for-11 from beyond the arc.

Lindsey Wilson did win the battle on the boards in the opening half, turning 12 offensive rebounds into 15 second-chance points.

The Blue Raiders regained the lead at the 6:04 mark of the third quarter when Huffman hit Lindsey Wilson's first three pointer of the game to go ahead 44-43. Huffman followed on the very next possession with another three pointer as the Blue Raiders outscored the host Eagles 22-11 in the third quarter to take a 56-49 lead into the final quarter.

A Kayla Richardson three put the Blue Raiders up 61-52, but Asbury stormed right back with a 12-0 run in a three-minute span to retake the lead 64-61 midway through the final frame.

With the score tied 64-64, a steal and layup by Richardson sparked a 6-0 Lindsey Wilson run that put the Blue Raiders back out front 70-64 with just over two minutes to go in the game

From there, Roberts scored six points in 26 seconds as Lindsey Wilson broke the Asbury press for a trio of fast break layups and the Blue Raiders went 7-of-8 down the stretch from the free throw line to hold on for the 83-74 win.

The hot-shooting Eagles cooled down in the second half, finishing at 40.0 percent while the Blue Raiders improved to 43.1 percent. Lindsey Wilson made all four of its three pointers of the game in the second half while Asbury hit 14 shots from beyond the arc. Both teams shot above 80.0 percent from the charity stripe – 16-of-19 for the Eagles and 23-of-28 for the Blue Raiders – but Asbury turned the ball over 17 times compared to Lindsey Wilson's season-low eight.

Brittany Warren led the Eagles with 24 points, while Oney Harrison added 18 points in the loss.

The Blue Raiders return home to Biggers Sports Center on Saturday for their Mid-South Conference opener against Life (Ga.) at 2 p.m. CT.
