Women's Basketball falls 97-50 to Louisville in exhibition play

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Lindsey Wilson women's basketball dropped its lone exhibition game of the season today, falling 97-50 to the University of Louisville at the KFC Yum! Center.

Teanna Curry led the No. 5-ranked Blue Raiders with 15 points. Chanel Roberts and J'Nayah Hall added 10 each to give Lindsey Wilson three players in double figures.

The Blue Raiders (2-0) struggled against relentless pressure from the Cardinals -- who are ranked No. 5 in the NCAA. Lindsey Wilson managed to shoot just 25.4-percent (15-of-59) from the field in the game while committing 26 turnovers. Louisville out-rebounded Lindsey Wilson 45-36.

"Louisville is a great team and Coach Walz always has his team prepared," Lindsey Wilson women's basketball coach John B. Wethington said. "This game, against this team shows us our deficiencies. It will only make us better down the road.

"I thought we came out a little scared," Wethington said. "We made several mistakes, but you are going to make mistakes this early in the season against one of the best teams in collegiate basketball. We just have to learn from those mistakes and I believe we will."

Louisville used a 28-6 run to sprint away from the Blue Raiders in the opening quarter. The Cardinals led 34-11 at the first break. Louisville increased its lead to 53-19 at the half en route to the 97-50 win.

The Cardinals ended the game shooting 54.9 percent (39-of-71), including making six of 15 threes.

Louisville's Asia Durr finished with a game-high 19 points. Myisha Hines-Allen and Jazmine Jones scored 15 points each while Ciera Johnson chipped in 14.

Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 2 p.m. CT on Saturday, Nov. 12, as the Blue Raiders host Brescia (Ky.) at Biggers Sports Center.
