Men's and Women's Swimming defeat Bethel on Senior Day

COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson men's and women's swimming teams both picked up victories in a dual meet Saturday against Bethel at the Holloway Center Natatorium, the men's team won by a score of 138-20 and the women's team won 103-35.

During intermission six senior swimmers were recognized for their accomplishments. Hannah Harris, Amber Lonaker, Natalie Miller, Turk Dogruyol, Travis Durocher and Iker Larzabal were all honored.

The Blue Raider men's team won 10 events led by Clemens Paetzold who won three individual events. Paetzold picked up his first victory of the day in the 50-yard freestyle. He then finished first in the 500-yard freestyle. His final individual win came in the 200-yard breaststroke.

Alexander Van Winkle picked up a victory in the 200-yard freestyle and Gage Setzer won the 400-yard individual medley. Michael Peck finished first in the 200-yard butterfly while Iker Larzabal won the 100-yard freestyle with a "B" cut time of 48.83 seconds while Zachary Patzer also recorded a "B" cut time in the event finishing with a time of 49.99. Jose Prado de Lima picked up a victory in the 200-yard backstroke.

The 200-yard medley relay team of Setzer, Durocher, Dogruyol and Larzabal finished first with an "A" cut time of 1:50.71. The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Prado De Lima, Setzer, Larzabal and Dogruyol won the event with a time of 1:34.47 for an "A" cut.

The Lindsey Wilson women's team won seven events. Jessica Macdonald won the 200-yard freestyle with an "A" cut time of 2:01.48 and won the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 55.19 to finish with an "A" cut. Emily Wood picked up a victory in the 50-yard freestyle while Ines Khiyara earned "B" cuts in the 400-yard individual medley and the 500-yard freestyle. Sarah Hahn won the 200-yard backstroke.

The 200-yard medley relay team of Hahn, Khiyara, Macdonald and Wood earned an "A" cut while the 200-yard freestyle relay team of Caitlin Freeny, Megan Bell, Tori Caudill and Harlee Smock also had an "A" standard.

The Blue Raiders are back in action on Jan. 13 for a meet against Milligan (Tenn.) and Warren Wilson (N.C) at Milligan.
