Women's Golf finishes tied for fourth at Coastal Georgia Invitational to open spring season

ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. – The Lindsey Wilson women's golf team wrapped up the College of Coastal Georgia Sixth Annual Winter Invitational in a tie for fourth place in their first event of the spring season on Tuesday.

The Blue Raiders carded a 667 (340-327) over the two-day event, finishing tied with St. Andrews (N.C.) (341-326) and No. 22-ranked Southeastern (Fla.) (341-326) at the 12-team tournament.

All five Blue Raiders either matched or improved their score from the first round to the final round at the King and Prince Golf Course.

Brianne Coe and Shayna Cockrill provided the top Lindsey Wilson finishes at the event as the duo tied for 13th place overall after carding 163s. Coe shaved one stroke off her opening round 10-over par 82, carding a 9-over par 81 on the second day, while Cockrill bettered her score by three strokes from the first day, improving from an 11-over 83 to an 8-over 80. Cockrill's 80 was the best Blue Raider round at the tournament.

Kenna Richardson duplicated her 13-over par 85 from day one to day two, finishing in a tie for 27th place.

Cristina Jimenez has the biggest improvement of the day, trimming nine strokes from her opening round 18-over 90 to card a 9-over par 81 on the second day. Jimenez finished with a 171 total for the event in 31st place, one stroke behind Richardson.

Ashley Strong also had significant improvement in her game, cutting seven strokes from her 25-over par 97 down to an 18-over 90 to finish tied for 51st place in the field of 63.

No. 12-ranked Coastal Georgia captured the team victory after carding a 611 (304-307). No. 19 SCAD-Atlanta (Ga.) and No. 14 Thomas (Ga.) finished tied for second with 641s.

Coastal Georgia's Diane Lim led wire-to-wire to capture individual medalist honors with a 147 (71-76). She beat out second place finisher Heidi Hinz of Thomas by four strokes.

The Blue Raiders return to the links on March 14 for the Skyhawk Invitational set to take place at Callaway Gardens Resort in Pine Mountain, Ga.
