No. 19 Women's Basketball closes out regular season with a 94-52 victory over Fisk on Sunday

COLUMBIA, Ky. -- The 19th-ranked Lindsey Wilson women's basketball team defeated Fisk (Tenn.) in their regular-season finale, 94-52, on Sunday afternoon.

Heidi Huffman led the Blue Raiders (25-5) with a career-high 20 points as she was 6-for-8 from beyond the arc. Huffman's six made three point attempts also set a new personal best and she was one three pointer shy of tying the single-game program record. Kayla Styles recorded her third double-double in seven games this season with 10 points and 10 boards. Courtney Sandlin led all starters with 16 points in the game. Teanna Curry also set a new career-high with nine assists.

The Blue Raiders set a new program record for made three pointers in a game with 16 against the Bulldogs (11-16).

Lindsey Wilson opened the game on a 7-2 run, but Fisk battled back as they scored the next four points to make it a 7-6 game with 7:09 to play in the first quarter. Fisk later tied the game at 9-9, but Lindsey Wilson went on a 7-0 run to make it a 16-9 game at the 3:13 mark in the first quarter.

The Bulldogs pulled within four points after hitting a three-pointer on their next possession, but Lindsey Wilson scored the final two points of the first quarter as they took an 18-12 lead into the second quarter.

To start the second quarter, the Blue Raiders went on an 11-0 run to extend their lead to 29-12 with 7:03 left in the first half. Fisk put an end to the Lindsey Wilson run with a bucket from beyond the arc on their ensuing possession. The Bulldogs came within 12 points, but that is as close as they came in the second quarter as the Blue Raiders slowly extended their lead to 17 points once again. At the half, Lindsey Wilson led 40-23.

In the first half, the Blue Raiders shot 51.9 percent from the field and they were 7-of-11 from beyond the arc, while Fisk shot 31 percent and made 3-of-6 shots from three-point land.

Lindsey Wilson continued to shoot the ball well to start the third quarter as they made their first seven shots of the period. The Blue Raiders started the third quarter on 19-6 run as they extended their lead to, 59-30, after Sandlin knocked down a three pointer. Lindsey Wilson was unable to extend their lead in the third quarter as the Bulldogs countered each Blue Raider basket the remainder of the quarter.

Holding a 64-39 lead at the start of the fourth quarter, Lindsey Wilson went on a 20-3 run over the first 5:08 of the quarter as they took an 84-42 lead. The Blue Raiders stretched their lead to as many as 45 points, which came at the 1:03 mark in the fourth quarter after Michelle Montgomery put Lindsey Wilson ahead, 92-47, with a basket in the paint.

Lindsey Wilson grabbed their 25th win of the season as they defeated Fisk, 94-52.

The Blue Raiders shot 58.6 percent from the floor, which is their third highest field goal percentage this season. Lindsey Wilson made 16-of-24 shots from beyond the arc as they set a new season-high with 16 made three point attempts and a three point field goal percentage of 64 percent.

With the victory, the Blue Raiders tied a program record for the most wins in a season with 25, which was set in the 1992-93 and 2008-09 seasons.

Lindsey Wilson now focuses there attention to postseason play as they face Cumberland (Tenn.) in the first round of the Mid-South Conference Tournament on Thursday at 3 p.m. CT.
