Balanced attack leads Women's Basketball to 128-79 win over Saint-Mary-of-the-Woods

SAINT MARY OF THE WOODS, Ind. -- No. 21-ranked Lindsey Wilson women's basketball posted a season-high point total en route to a 128-79 win over host Saint-Mary-of-the-Woods (Ind.) at Hamilton Arena.

Seven Blue Raiders posted double figures in the win, led by Malerie Martin's career-high 25 points. Martin flirted with a triple-double -- adding nine rebounds and seven assists. Billie Hearn also provided a career-high as she poured in 20 points while grabbing a game-high 10 rebounds.

Lindsey Wilson (18-4) scored 13 of the game's first 15 points and never looked back while winning its 13th non-conference game in 14 tries this season. The Blue Raiders held a 29-17 lead at the end of the first quarter. The 29 points were the fewest Lindsey Wilson scored in a quarter in the game eclipsing the 30-point plateau in the final three quarters.

The Blue Raiders extended their lead to 61-31 at the half thanks to shooting 57.8 percent (26-of-45) from the field. Lindsey Wilson made half of its 14 3-point attempts in the opening half.

While Lindsey Wilson flourished on the offensive end, it was a struggle for the home-standing Pomeroys (10-11) -- connecting on just 26.7 percent (12-of-45) from the field.

Lindsey Wilson extended its lead to 52 points (126-74) late in the game en route to the win and a season sweep. The Blue Raiders won the first meeting 106-80 in Columbia in December.

Chanel Roberts joined Hearn with 20 points off the Lindsey Wilson bench.

Each of the four reserves posted double figures -- Heidi Huffman (14 points), Courtney Sandlin (11) and Cameron McPherson (10) -- to help the Blue Raiders score 55 points off the bench. Kayla Richardson -- one of three starters with double digits -- tallied 15 points.

The Blue Raiders ended the game making a season-high 59.8 percent (52-of-87) of their shots while out-rebounding the Pomeroys 59-42.

Shelby Palmer led Saint-Mary-of-the-Woods with 21 points.

Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 5 p.m. CT on Monday, Feb. 8 as the Blue Raiders travel to Hiwassee (Tenn.) in Madisonville, Tenn.
