COLUMBUS, Ga. – The Lindsey Wilson women's swimming team concluded their 2015-16 season on Saturday with a sixth-place finish at the NAIA Swimming and Diving National Championships in Columbus, Ga.
Ronni Borders captured her second NAIA All-American honor at the event as she finished in the third place in the 200-yard breaststroke. As a team, Lindsey Wilson finished in sixth place with 225 points. The sixth-place finish from the Blue Raiders set a new program best.
In the 200-yard backstroke, Elena Nikolaeva was the lone Blue Raider to compete in the event and she hit a prelim time of 2:09.32 and just missed out on the final transfer spot into the A finals by .01 seconds.
Nikolaeva shaved off nearly a second from her preliminary time, but she slipped to 11th overall after competing in the B finals with a time of 2:08.10 to set a new program record.
Bailey Seitz competed in the 100-yard freestyle and her time of 56.92 placed in 45th overall.
Borders started her day with a seventh-place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:26.51. Caitlin Freeny also competed in the event as she posted a 21st-place finish with a time of 2:35.49.
Borders earned her second NAIA All-American honor of the event as she trimmed nearly four seconds off of her preliminary time to finish in third place in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:19.91. Borders becomes the first two-time NAIA All-American in program history.
Laura Stephenson started the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:11.36, which was eighth-fastest in the prelims. Stephenson grabbed the final spot in the championships finals.
In the A finals of the 200-yard butterfly, Stephenson remained in eighth place after she finished with a time of 2:13.62.
In the lone relay of the day, the Blue Raiders had Borders, Seitz, Stephenson and Nikolaeva post a preliminary time of 3:41.53. The quartet qualified for the B finals with an 11th finish.
Lindsey Wilson moved up in the 400-yard freestyle relay as they won the B finals with a time of 3:37.87 to finish ninth overall.
Emily Wood captured CSCAA Honorable Mention All-American honors in the 1,650-yard freestyle. Wood finished in seventh place with a time of 18:12.47 and she became the first swimmer in program history to score in the event.
