Men's Tennis rolls to a 9-0 win over host Georgetown

GEORGETOWN, Ky. -- Lindsey Wilson men's tennis remained unbeaten in Mid-South Conference play with a 9-0 win over Georgetown (Ky.) today at the Lackey Tennis Center.

The No. 7-ranked Blue Raiders improved to 12-3 overall and 5-0 in the MSC with the win. The sweep marks the third time this season Lindsey Wilson has won each competed match.

The win secures at least a share of the Mid-South Conference regular season title with one conference match remaining this season.

Today, Lindsey Wilson took all three doubles points in the match by identical 8-3 scores.

Denis Porcic and Raul Mendez -- who moved up to No. 6 in the NAIA doubles rankings earlier in the day -- notched the first point of the day with a win over Ryo Takeda and Cole McCreary. The duo improves to 8-2 on the season in doubles action, including 4-0 in the conference with the win in the top-seeded match.

Tomas Depiaggio and Javier Raya picked up the second point of the match in the third-seeded match with their second straight doubles win of the season. The Blue Raider pair upended Austin Colliver and Kaushik Kailish for the win.

Ignacio Huertas and Alonso Tellez made it a clean sweep of the doubles with a win at the second-seeded match over Tristan Nosek and Ryan Simms. The win is Huertas and Tellez's team-best 11th doubles win of the season.

Mendez and Huertas claimed the fourth and fifth points of the day to help the Blue Raiders take the team win.

No. 40-ranked Mendez downed Nosek 6-3, 6-1 in the second-seeded singles match while Huertas -- ranked 49th in the NAIA -- defeated Simms 6-0, 6-1 in the fourth-seeded match.

Tellez and Porcic cruised to straight-set wins while Depiaggio and Raya picked up super-set wins to aid in the 9-0 win.

Huertas and Tellez each extended his winning streak to 11 straight matches.

Georgetown falls to 4-17 overall and 1-5 in the MSC with the loss.

Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 1 p.m. CT on Friday, April 15, as the Blue Raiders host Pikeville (Ky.) at Henry Baughman Tennis Complex. Prior to the match, Lindsey Wilson will honor its seniors during the Senior Day Ceremony at approximately 12:45 p.m. CT.
