CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Cristina Jimenez put together a fifth-place individual finish as the Lindsey Wilson women's golf team captured third place at the Mid-South Conference Spring Tournament on Tuesday at the Campbellsville Country Club.
Jimenez followed her 5-over 77 in the opening round with a 12-over 84 during the final round to card a 161 for the tournament, edging out Cumberlands' (Ky.) Annabeth McKay by one stroke for fifth place. For her top-five finish, Jimenez was named to the all-tournament team.
Lindsey Wilson captured third place as a team after carding a two-day total 666 (329-337). The Blue Raiders finished eight strokes behind host Campbellsville (Ky.), and 29 strokes behind tournament winner Cumberlands. Lindsey Wilson finished 14 strokes ahead of fourth place Bellarmine (Ky.).
Shayna Cockrill also secured a top-10 finish at the tournament after finishing in a three-way tie for seventh place. Cockrill trimmed her 12-over 84 on the first day down to an 8-over 80 on day two to card a 164 for the tournament. Her 80 tied for the fourth-lowest round on the second day.
Courtney Vincent posted 13-over 85s on both days of the tournament to finish with a 170 in 19th place. Kenna Richardson (83-90) and Amy Brown (85-88) both tied for 24th place with two-day totals of 173.
Kayla Cordeiro, Megan Kriz and Ashley Strong all competed as individuals at the tournament. Cordeiro posted the best finish of the trio with a 171 (86-85) in a tie for 20th place. Kriz shot a 177 (88-89) to tie for 32nd and Strong finished three strokes behind her with a 180 (88-92) in 38th place.
Campbellsville's (Ky.) Cassidy Scantland took home medalist honors with a two-stroke win over Cumberlands' Constanze Sieker in second place. Scantland, Sieker and Jimenez, along with Cumberlands' Sadie Martinez and Kaitlyn Riley each earned all-tournament team honors.
The Blue Raiders return to the course on April 18-20 for the MSC Championship Tournament at the Bowling Green Country Club.
