MT. JULIET, Tenn. – The Lindsey Wilson women's golf team shaved five shots off its opening-round total, but was unable to make up any ground to finish fourth at the Mid-South Conference Fall Tournament at the Windtree Golf Club.
Lindsey Wilson fired a team-total 316 today -- after Monday's 321 -- to finish two strokes behind host Cumberland's (Tenn.) 635 (318-317) for third place. The Blue Raiders closed the tournament with an overall score of 637.
Cumberlands (Ky.) overcame a seven-shot deficit to win the fall tournament with a team-total 599 (305-294). Campbellsville (Ky.) -- the leader after the opening round -- ended in second place with a 602 (298-304).
Lindsey Wilson's Shayna Cockrill jumped 13 spots up the leaderboard with today's final round 74. She posted a two-day total of 156 (82-74) to tie for ninth in the 51-woman tournament. Cockrill recorded back-to-back birdies during her inward nine to finish the tournament with three birdies over the two days.
Tara Rodenhurst finished one shot behind Cockrill with a 157 (78-79) on the par-72, 5,801-yard course. She concluded the tournament with a tie for 12th. Dacie Bolton matched Rodenhurst's 7-over par 79 today. Bolton's up-and-down round produced four birdies, but also three double bogeys. Bolton -- who led the Blue Raiders with six birdies over the two days -- tied for 19th with a 161 (82-79).
Megan Kriz supplied the Lindsey Wilson's fourth score of the day with a 12-over par 84 -- five strokes better than her opening round. After opening with a bogey, Kriz ran off six straight pars before playing bogey golf over the final 11 holes. She ended the tournament 35th with a 173 (89-84).
Courtney Vincent carded an 85 today to finish tied for 24th with a 164 (79-85). Kenna Richardson, playing as an individual, tied for 27th place with a two-round 166 (81-85).
Lindsey Wilson returns to action on Monday, Sept. 26, as the Blue Raiders travel to the Carey Collegiate Classic at the Canebrake Country Club in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
