No. 4 Women's basketball wins 15th-consecutive game, defeats No. 15 Cumberland 76-64 Monday night

LEBANON, Tenn. – The No. 4-ranked Lindsey Wilson women's basketball team won its 15th-consecutive game defeating No. 15-ranked Cumberland (Tenn.) Monday night at the Dallas Floyd Gymnasium.

The Blue Raiders (15-0, 3-0 Mid-South Conference) continue to set program records now with 15-straight wins and the 15-0 start is the best in program history.

Lindsey Wilson outshot the Phoenix (12-3, 1-2 MSC) 53.7 percent to 36.7 percent. Three Blue Raiders were in double figures led by Chanel Roberts who scored 21 points on a season high 10-of-12 from the field. J'Nayah Hall chipped in with 11 points and Jynea Harris scored 10 points.

Lindsey Wilson trailed 18-16 after the first quarter. After the Blue Raiders took a 14-7 lead with 4:20 remaining in the quarter, the Phoenix rattled off a 9-0 run to take a 16-14 lead. Hall, Kayla Styles and Roberts all finished the quarter with four points.

Lindsey Wilson responded by outscoring Cumberland 25-16 in the second quarter to take a 41-34 lead into halftime. The Blue Raiders outshot Cumberland 60.0 percent to 35.3 percent from the field in the first half. Leading 34-30 late in the quarter, the Blue Raiders went on a 5-0 run to take a 39-30 lead with 1:23 left in the half. The Phoenix outrebounded Lindsey Wilson 19-11 in the half including a 11-3 edge in offensive rebounds.

After Cumberland had cut the Blue Raider lead to 51-49 with 4:03 remaining in the third quarter, the Blue Raiders ended the quarter on a 7-0 run to take a 48-59 lead heading into the fourth. Roberts scored six points in the quarter. Cumberland cut the deficit to 65-58 with 4:02 left in the fourth quarter, but Lindsey Wilson responded with a 7-0 run to take a 72-58 lead.

Janisha Lindsey led the Phoenix in scoring with 17 points. Nicole Bowers was the only other Cumberland player in double figures with 12 points and grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds.

The Blue Raiders are back in action Thursday for a MSC matchup against No.23-ranked Pikeville (Ky.) at 6 p.m. CT at Biggers Sports Center.
