Swimming finishes regular season with victory at Transylvania

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson men's and women's swimming team, both ranked No. 8, concluded the regular season portion of its schedule picking up victories over Transylvania (Ky.) Saturday.

The Blue Raider men won 120-25 for their sixth consecutive dual victory, to finish the season with a dual record of 6-3. The Lindsey Wilson won its eighth consecutive dual 114-86 to finish with an 8-1 dual record.

The Blue Raider men won nine events led by Iker Larzabal, Clemens Paetzold and Jonas Mueller who each won two individual events while Jose Prado de Lima recorded one victory.

Larzabal picked up victories in the 200-yard freestyle and the 100 free. Paetzold recorded a national A qualifying standard in his victory in the 100-yard backstroke finishing with a time of 54.72 seconds and won the 50 free.

Mueller recorded won the 100 breaststroke and recorded a B standard finishing in 1:00.79 and picked up a victory in the 200-yard individual medley. Prado de Lima also recorded a national B standard with a victory in the 100 fly with a time of 54.67 seconds.

The 200-yard medley relay team of Paetzold, Mueller, Larzabal and Prado de Lima picked up a victory and recorded an A cut time of 1:40.97. Michael Peck, Gage Setzer, Travis Durocher and Zachary Patzer won the 200 free relay in 1:40.68, which qualified as a national B standard.

The Lindsey Wilson women picked up victories in nine events led by Ronni Borders, Jessica Macdonald, and Ines Khiyara who won two events apiece and Emily Wood recorded a victory.

Macdonald recorded an A standard time in her 200 free victory with a time of 2:01.77 and also picked up an A standard in the 100-yard freestyle finishing in 55.29. Borders finished with an A standard in the 100 breast and a B standard in the 50 freestyle.

Khiyara recorded a B national qualifying standard in her 200 individual medley victory. The 200 medley relay and 200 free relay teams also recorded national standards.

The Blue Raiders are back in action on Feb. 2 for the Mid-South Conference Championships in Kingsport, Tennessee.
