Men's Swimming captures second-place finish at LWC Fall Frenzy

COLUMBIA, Ky. - The Lindsey Wilson men's swimming team finished in second place in the final standings following the third and final session of the LWC Fall Frenzy on Saturday evening at the Holloway Center Natatorium.

The Blue Raiders racked up 717 total team points over the two-day event, finishing only behind event winner NCAA Division II member Mars Hill (N.C.) with 914 points. Milligan (Tenn.) took third with 577 points.

Lindsey Wilson hit eight national A standards over the two-day event and earned two B cuts. The Blue Raiders also recorded 16 top-three finishes with seven of them being runner-up.

The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Jose Prado de Lima, Clemens Paetzold, Zachary Patzer and Paul Pavala recorded a national A standard with a time of one minute and 31.05 seconds to finish in third place. Paetzold, Jonas Mueller, Prado de Lima and Patzer finished second in the 400-yard medley relay with a time of 3:40.21. Their time was good enough for another national A cut. Also in the event, Michael Peck, Hayden Krause, Pavala and Alex Van Winkle earned an A cut of their own at 3:54.56.

Paetzold, Mueller, Prado de Lima and Patzer recorded an A standard in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:40.45, finishing in second place. Also in the event, Peck, Krause, Pavala and Van Winkle earned an A cut of their own with a time of 1:46.72. The 800-yard freestyle relay team of Pavala, Prado de Lima, Patzer and Paetzold finished second with a time of 7:40.66 while recording a national A cut.

Pavala, Prado de Lima, Paetzold and Patzer recorded yet another A standard in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:23.30 and finished in third place. Paetzold recorded an A cut in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 54.61 while finishing second, adding a B standard in the 200-yard backstroke.

The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Peck, Van Winkle, Krause and Mueller narrowly missed an A cut by .16 seconds.

Paetzold finished second in the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 4:32.30. Mueller recorded runner-up finishes in both the 100 and 200-yard breaststroke, missing the B standard by one second in the 200 breaststroke. Prado de Lima finished second in the 1,650-yard freestyle with a time of 17:53.32 recording a B cut.

Pavala finished third in the 200-yard butterfly and the 100-yard backstroke, Krause finished third in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:04.35, Prado de Lima picked up a third-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly and in the 500-yard freestyle. Paetzold finished third in the 200-yard individual medley missing the B cut by less than half a second.

The Blue Raiders are back in action on Oct. 7 for a dual at Cumberlands (Ky.) at 12 p.m. CT.
