Men's Swimming edges out Asbury 132-129 on Saturday

COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson men's swim team narrowly edged out visiting Asbury (Ky.) in a dual meet 132-129 on Saturday at the Holloway Center Natatorium.

The Blue Raiders won seven of the 14 races on the day en route to the three-point victory.

Manny Griego, Michael Peck, Jonas Mueller, Zachary Patzer, Jose Prado de Lima and the 200-yard medley relay team all came away with victories on the day.

Clemens Paetzold, Mueller, Prado de Lima and Patzer teamed up to start the day with a win after racing their way to the top spot in the 200-yard medley relay event. The quartet finished in one minute and 41.90 seconds to secure 11 team points.

Griego picked up the first individual victory of the day after he won the 1,000-yard freestyle, beating out teammate Prado de Lima by just over 10 seconds. Alex Van Winkle also swam in the event, collecting one team point for his fifth-place finish.

Peck won the 200-yard freestyle event to pick up another nine team points. Mueller won the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:01.43, edging out teammate Hayden Krause for the win. The duo combined for 13 points in the event. Mueller's time was also good enough for a B standard.

Patzer claimed his win in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 23.31, beating out the second-place finisher by .37 seconds. Prado de Lima added another individual win in the 100-yard freestyle with his B cut time of 48.71 seconds.

Griego accounted for his second and the Blue Raiders' final event victory after winning the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:04.32.

Lindsey Wilson added another five national cuts throughout the day.

Paetzold took second in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 54.97, good enough for a B standard and just over a second behind first place. He also finished second in both the 200-yard backstroke with a B standard time of 2:00.26 and the 200-yard individual medley with a B cut time of 2:02.23.

Mueller added a second place and B cut in the 200-yard breaststroke at 2:15.33, and the 200-yard free relay team of Krause, Paul Pavala, Griego and Peck finished with an A cut time of 1:36.21 to close out the meet.

Up next for the Blue Raiders is a tri-dual against Union (Ky.) and Campbellsville (Ky.) on Nov. 4 in Barbourville, Ky.
