COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson men and women's swimming teams both picked up victories in a dual meet Saturday against Bethel (Tenn.) at the Holloway Center Natatorium. The men's team won by a score of 136-37 and the women's team won 131-46.
The Blue Raider men's team won ten events led by Jose Prado de Lima and Clemens Paetzold, who each recorded two individual wins and one relay win. Paetzold picked up his first individual win during the 200-yard freestyle with a B cut time of 1:49.85. He later picked up his second win during the 100-yard backstroke with an A cut time of 54.58 seconds. Prado de Lima got his first win of the day during the 1000-yard freestyle after finishing in 10:32.28 and won again in the 100-yard freestyle with a B cut time of 48.64 seconds.
Lindsey Wilson men's team won their first event of the day when Paetzold, Alex Van Winkle, Michael Peck and Hayden Krause teamed up in the 200-yard medley relay with an A cut time of 1:47.80. Paul Pavala won the 500-yard freestyle and the 100-yard butterfly, Jonas Mueller won the 100-yard breaststroke and Manny Griego won the 200-yard individual medley. Prado de Lima, Mueller, Zachary Patzer and Gage Setzer finished the dual off with a win in the 200-yard freestyle relay.
The Blue Raider women's team won eight events on the day and were led by Jessica Macdonald and Laura Stephenson who each won two events as they both teamed up with Bailey Seitz and Alexis Kessler for another win during the 200-yard freestyle relay with an A cut time of 1:43.92.
Macdonald recorded her first win of the night in the 200 IM with B cut time of 2:17.50 and later won with an A cut time of 5:25.65 in the 500-yard freestyle. Stephenson placed first with an A cut time of 1:01.52 in the 100-yard butterfly and finished in 1:05.04 in the 100-yard backstroke.
The women got the night started with a win during the 200-yard medley relay where Sarah Hahn, Kylie Gehefer, Emma Phillips and Harlee Smock finished with an A cut time of 2:04.77. Kessler won the 200-yard freestyle with an A cut time of 1:57.11 as Caitlin Freeny won the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:14. 45.
During the first break, the Lindsey Wilson men and women's swimming senior class was recognized for their accomplishments in the pool and the classroom, along with their contributions to Lindsey Wilson College. Patzer, Tori Cauldill, Van Winkle, Prado de Lima, Gehefer, Seitzer, Stephenson, Courtney Fleeger, and Mueller were all honored.
The Blue Raiders are back in action on Thursday at the University of Cincinnati Bearcats Midseason Invitational.
