Women's Basketball falls 58-54 to Lane on Saturday

JACKSON, Tenn. – The No. 8-ranked Lindsey Wilson women's basketball team fell to NCAA Division II Lane (Tenn.) on Saturday 58-54 at the J F Lane Gymnaisum.

Reagan Turner led the Blue Raiders (5-1) in scoring with a career-high 20 points while also grabbing seven rebounds. Devin Cheatum added nine points while Gerda Paulauskaite scored eight. Paulauskaite grabbed a career-high 16 rebounds and recorded six blocks. Lindsey Wilson shot a season-low 28.1 percent from the field and 10.1 percent from beyond the arc.

The Blue Raiders began the game on a 14-3 run which was capped off by a Cheatum three pointer. Lane responded with a 13-2 run to tie the game at 16. Lindsey Wilson scored the last three points of the first quarter to take a 19-16 lead. The Blue Raiders shot just 9-of-29 in the quarter and made 11 free throws.

After Lindsey Wilson held a 25-17 lead with 7:03 to play in the second quarter, the Dragons responded with a 16-0 run that lasted over four minutes to take a 33-25 advantage. The Blue Raiders would cut the lead in half to 33-29 with a quick 4-0 run. Lane held a 36-30 lead at halftime.

The Dragons started the third quarter on a 5-0 run to extend their lead to 41-30. Lindsey Wilson answered back with 10-2 run to cut the lead to 43-40. Lane scored the last four points of the third quarter to take a 47-40 lead into the final quarter.

Trailing 52-43, the Blue Raiders scored 10 unanswered points to take a 53-52 lead for their first lead since the second quarter. Lane closed out the game scoring six of the last seven points to come away with the 58-54 victory.

LaKeiya Lane and Alisha Fortenberry each scored 10 points for the Dragons.

The Blue Raiders are back in action on Monday when they host Simmons College of Kentucky at 6 p.m. CT at Biggers Sports Center.
