BARBOURVILLE, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson men's swim team split a pair of duals on Saturday defeating Campbellsville (Ky.) 164-77, but falling to host Union (Ky.) 153-102 at the Stivers Aquatic Center.
The Blue Raiders accumulated four victories on the day, racking up eight national standards throughout the meet.
Manny Griego won two individual events on the day. He touched the wall in 17 minutes and 36.45 seconds in the 1,650-yard freestyle, earning a B cut. He followed with a win in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:04.44.
Clemens Paetzold won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 54.85 seconds, good enough for a national A standard. He added his second and the final Blue Raider win on the day after he recorded the fastest time in the 200-yard backstroke at 1:59.68. He collected a B standard and edged out teammate Paul Pavala for the win.
Lindsey Wilson accounted for another 11 top-three finishes at the tri-dual.
The meet started with the quartet of Pavala, Hayden Krause, Griego and Tyler Glish hitting a national standard to take third in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:44.44.
Jose Prado de Lima took second in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:49.02, while Jonas Mueller captured second place in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:00.34. The duo both earned B cuts in their respective events.
Prado de Lima accounted for the final individual standard with his B time of 49.02 in the 100-yard freestyle, taking second place.
Pavala took second place in the 200-yard butterfly, Zachary Patzer placed third in the 50-yard freestyle, Mueller placed second in the 200-yard breaststroke, Prado de Lima took third in the 100 butterfly, and Pavala and Greigo finished second and third, respectively, in the 400-yard IM.
Prado de Lima, Mueller, Paetzold and Patzer teamed up in the final event, taking second place in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:28.89. They finished just over a second behind the winning time, but still recorded a national standard.
The Blue Raiders are back in action on Nov. 11 for a dual against Bethel (Tenn.) on Senior Day. The action begins at 1 p.m. CT at the Holloway Center Natatorium.
