Late run lifts Women's Basketball to 59-54 win at Brescia

OWENSBORO, Ky. -- No. 9 Lindsey Wilson women's basketball used a 10-0 run in the fourth quarter to spark a 59-54 comeback win over host Brescia (Ky.) on Thursday night.

The Blue Raiders (11-1) erased a pair of one-point deficits in the final quarter to win its season-high sixth straight game.

Trailing 44-43 midway through the fourth quarter, Kayla Styles scored two of her game-high 23 points to put the Blue Raiders in front 45-44. The 13th lead change of the night was the last as Lindsey Wilson did not trail the remainder of the game.

Dakota Smith padded the Lindsey Wilson lead with a basket and added a free throw on the Blue Raiders' next possession for a 48-44 lead.

Following a Brescia turnover -- one of 21 in the game -- Styles extended the Lindsey Wilson lead to six with 2:40 left in the game.

Reagan Turner capped the 10-point spurt with a 3-pointer to match the largest lead of the night at 53-44. Lindsey Wilson also led by nine points in the opening quarter. Turner finished with 22 points.

Brescia managed to get as close as five points on two occasions over the final two minutes, including hitting a 3-pointer with four seconds left to provide the final score.

Styles added 14 rebounds to her 23 points for her fifth double-double of the season.

Brescia's Le'onzerrae Grubbs led the Bearcats with 16 points.

Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 3 p.m. CT on Sunday, Dec. 17, as the Blue Raiders face No. 20 Dillard (La.) in the first day of the Xavier (La.) Classic in New Orleans.
