NEW ORLEANS -- No. 9 Lindsey Wilson women's basketball's comeback attempt fell just short today with a 59-54 loss to No. 20 Dillard (La.) at the Xavier (La.) Classic.

After trailing by eight points to open the fourth quarter and by as many as 11 in the final stanza, the Blue Raiders (11-2) managed to climb within a single basket only to run out of time in ending their six-game winning streak.

Lindsey Wilson trailed 51-40 with just over seven minutes left before mounting its charge.

A 3-pointer by Heidi Huffman with 49 seconds trimmed the deficit to 55-52.

Dillard (8-2) moved its lead back to five (57-52) with 33 seconds left.

Molly Stone made it a one-possession game with a putback with seven seconds left.

Two seconds later, the Bleu Devils iced the game with a pair of free throws to take the 59-54 win. Dillard ended the game making 17-of-21 free throws compared to Lindsey Wilson's 5-for-11 effort.

Lindsey Wilson also struggled from the field during the top-20 matchup. The Blue Raiders shot just 35.4 percent (23-of-65) from the field. While the percentage was better than the Bleu Devils -- who finished hitting 19-of-62 shots (30.7 percent) -- Lindsey Wilson could not overcome the free throw discrepancy.

The 54 points matched a season-low for the Blue Raiders. Lindsey Wilson also posted 54 points against Lane (Tenn.) -- the other Blue Raider loss this season.

After leading at the end of the first quarter 13-11, Lindsey Wilson dug itself a hole with a nine-point second quarter to trail at the half 28-21. Dillard extended its lead to as many as 12 points in the second half before holding on for the win.

Kayla Styles led the Blue Raiders with 18 points and 10 rebounds -- her sixth double-double of the season. Reagan Turner added 15 points. Dillard's Shaelynn Moore led all scorers with 21 points.

Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 5 p.m. CT on Monday, as the Blue Raiders play host Xavier in the final game of the Xavier Classic.
