Box Score NEW ORLEANS -- Lindsey Wilson women's basketball completed their toughest stretch of the season today with a 69-60 win over Xavier (La.) on the final day of the Xavier Classic.
Today's game finished a five-game in a seven-day stretch for the No. 9 Blue Raiders (12-2). Lindsey Wilson ended the stretch with four wins to close out its pre-Christmas schedule.
Four Blue Raiders scored in double-figures, including a pair of double-doubles in the win.
Kayla Styles -- who was named the MSC Women's Basketball Player of the Week earlier today -- and Teanna Curry each posted 19 points while Reagan Turner and Devin Cheatum scored 11 points each.
Styles and Turner each grabbed 10 rebounds for a double-double.
A strong second quarter helped the Blue Raiders build a 14-point halftime lead. Lindsey Wilson scored the final 10 points of the quarter -- Curry tallied six of the 10 to close out the half.
The Blue Raiders extended their lead to as many as 15 points before Xavier (6-4) made a late run to climb within 61-57 with 2:37 left in the game.
Like the first half, Lindsey Wilson closed strong to end the game. The Blue Raiders used an 8-3 run to ice the game en route to the 69-60 win.
Lindsey Wilson ended the game making 39.2 percent (20-of-51). Xavier managed just 30.6 percent (22-of-72). The Blue Raiders also enjoyed a 49-40 rebounding edge -- thanks to the efforts of Styles, Turner and Gerda Paulauskaite, who also pulled down 10 rebounds.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 2 p.m. CT on Saturday, Jan. 6, as the Blue Raiders host Cumberland (Tenn.) in their Mid-South Conference opener at Biggers Sports Center.
