PIKEVILLE, Ky. – The No. 2-ranked Lindsey Wilson women's basketball team survived a tough Mid-South Conference road matchup with No. 22-ranked Pikeville (Ky.) – winning 81-75 on Saturday at the East Kentucky Exposition Center.

With the victory the Blue Raiders improve to 26-0 and 12-0 in MSC play. The Bears drop to 19-9 and 7-6 in conference games.

A quartet of Blue Raiders broke double figures in scoring on Saturday. Chanel Roberts led all scorers with 19 points on 6-of-7 shooting. Kayla Styles (17), J'Nayah Hall (14) and Kayla Richardson (13) also scored in double digits.

Styles recorded her 13th double-double of the season, grabbing 18 rebounds. The junior forward also matched her season-high total of five blocked shots.

Devin Conley scored a team-high 15 points for Pikeville, shooting 4-of-19 from the field.

Lindsey Wilson out-shot the Bears 52.8 to 37.9 percent. The Blue Raiders have out-shot their opponent in 24 of their 26 games this year.

The Bears shot just 21.7 percent from three-point range in the game. Pikeville entered the game as the sixth-most accurate team from deep in NAIA Division I – shooting 37.1 percent from behind the arc.

Over the two games of the season series, the Bears managed just 9-for-46 shooting from three-point range against Lindsey Wilson.

The two teams were cold to start the game, but the Blue Raiders found fire late in the first quarter to take a 21-13 lead into the second period.

Lindsey Wilson turned the ball over on its first two possessions, but Pikeville could not capitalize as it missed its first four shot attempts – not scoring a basket until the 7:43 mark.

The Bears made two of their next three baskets and took their first, and only, lead of the game, 6-5, with 4:47 remaining in the quarter.

Both teams went into the first quarter's media stoppage shooting below 35 percent, missing their first five combined attempts from deep. Heidi Huffman ended the drought from behind the three-point arc with three pointers on consecutive possessions to give Lindsey Wilson a 12-6 lead with 3:49 left in the period.

Lindsey Wilson pushed its lead to nine points – its largest to that point – on a Teanna Curry layup with 12 seconds remaining in the first.

The Blue Raiders ended the first quarter shooting 50 percent from the field (7-of-14) and from behind the arc (3-of-6). Pikeville shot just 4-of-12 from the field and committed six turnovers in the opening 10 minutes.

LWC went to work to extend the lead to double digits early in the second quarter. Courtney Sandlin's putback of an errant Curry three pointer at the 9:37 mark put the Blue Raiders ahead 25-15.

The Blue Raiders built a 16-point advantage, 31-18, on Huffman's third made three pointer just past the midway mark of the period. Lindsey Wilson utilized a stifling defense to build the lead – forcing misses on five of Pikeville's first six shot attempts.

Pikeville would not go away quietly and entered the intermission down just nine points, 41-32, after closing the half on an 9-2 spurt over the last 2:26 seconds.

Roberts led all first-half scorers with 10 points on perfect 3-of-3 shooting. Styles tallied seven points and nine rebounds in the first half while blocking three shots.

Mia Greatrex led the Bears with seven first-half points.

The Blue Raiders made 15 of their 30 shot attempts during the first 20 minutes, while Pikeville shot 10-of-29.

Lindsey Wilson protected its lead in the second half, successfully withstanding Pikeville runs and countering with runs of its own.

The Blue Raiders led by as many as 15 points, 48-32 with 7:34 on the clock, and by as few as seven in the third quarter.

Roberts' basket at the 33-second mark of the period gave Lindsey Wilson a 60-50 lead. Greatrex responded with two free throws, and the Blue Raiders entered the final quarter leading 60-52.

The same back-and-forth trend played out in the fourth quarter. Lindsey Wilson held a 75-62 lead with 1:32 left in the game after Richardson split two free throws.

Pikeville cut its deficit to 75-66 just 13 second later after a Taylor McGlade jumper.

With the game in its closing minute, the Bears resorted to fouling. Lindsey Wilson made four of eight free throw attempts to close out the game and limited Pikeville to one made basket over its last three attempts.

The Blue Raiders made 19 of their 29 free throw attempts on Saturday. Pikeville made 26 of its 30 attempts from the charity stripe.

Lindsey Wilson returns home to host No. 5-ranked Shawnee State (Ohio) on Thursday for a 6 p.m. CT tipoff.
