Men's Swimming finishes third at MSC Championship

KINGSPORT, Tenn. -- Lindsey Wilson men's swimming posted a pair of wins during tonight's final session to post a third-place finish at the Mid-South Conference Swimming Championship at the Kingsport Aquatic Center.

Clemens Paetzold captured the 200-yard backstroke to earn first-team all-conference while the quartet of Paetzold, Jose Prado de Lima, Zachary Patzer and Iker Larzabal won the 400-yard freestyle relay. Both times were good enough for A cuts to the NAIA National Championships next month.

The Blue Raiders finish the three-day event with 340 team points. Lindenwood-Belleville (Ill.) captured the team title with 521 points while Cumberlands (Ky.) ended in second with 512 points.

Paetzold completed the backstroke sweep -- he won the 100 backstroke earlier in the championship -- by touching the wall in one minute and 52.10 seconds in the 200 backstroke. Paetzold records both individual titles for Lindsey Wilson during the championship.

Lindsey Wilson captured its third relay title of the weekend with the 400 free relay win. The Blue Raiders captured the event with an A-cut time of 3:07.01. Lindsey Wilson also claimed relay titles in 200-yard medley relay and 200 free relay.

The Blue Raiders return to action at the NAIA National Championships, March 1-4 in Columbus, Georgia.
