Box Score

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- No. 3-ranked Lindsey Wilson men's tennis earned its first win of the season on Saturday night with a 6-3 victory over host Bellarmine (Ky.) at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.

The Blue Raiders won the first two points and never trailed in the match en route to improving to 1-1 on the season.

Javier Raya and Filip Persson and Tomas Depiaggio and Ivan Solans Diaz each provided doubles wins to jumpstart the Blue Raiders.

Raya and Persson won 8-3 over Alex Swords and Matthew Momper in the second-seeded match for the first point of the night. Depiaggio and Solans Diaz quickly added a second Lindsey Wilson point in the third-seeded match. The Blue Raider duo won 8-3 over Lauren de Boeck and L.J. Allara for the 2-0 lead.

Jose Legarreta and Zachary Kuo provided the lone doubles win over the Knights (0-2). They defeated Denis Porcic and Cobi Ho 8-4 in the top-seeded match.

Legarreta tied the match for the first time in the top singles match. He won 10-4 in a third-set superset over Porcic after the pair split the first two sets.

Solans Diaz pushed the Blue Raiders back in front with a straight-sets (6-1, 6-2) win over Swords in the No. 3 singles match.

Again, the Knights pulled even as Kuo handed Depiaggio a 6-4, 7-5 loss in the second-seeded match.

Lindsey Wilson dominated the final three sets -- dropping just five games -- to sprint past Bellarmine.

Persson started the late surge with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Momper in the fifth-seeded match for the 4-3 Lindsey Wilson lead. Ho matched Persson's effort with a 6-1, 6-0 win over de Boeck at No. 4.

Ho's win proved to be the decisive point for the Blue Raiders.

Raya closed out the night with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Andrew Jones in the sixth-seeded singles match.

Lindsey Wilson returns to action Feb. 16-18 at the Southeast Challenge hosted by SCAD-Savannah in Savannah, Georgia.
