Box Score BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – The No. 4-ranked Lindsey Wilson men's tennis team took down No. 15-ranked Olivet Nazarene (Ill.) 5-1 in a road match on Saturday.
The Blue Raiders (7-5) never trailed on Saturday and took the final four points of their match with the Tigers (4-3).
Alonso Tellez and Ivan Solans Diaz gave Lindsey Wilson the opening point in the competition with an 8-0 blanking over Tyler Cannon and Srdja Nikolic in the third-seeded doubles flight.
Olivet Nazarene took the next point in the second-seeded doubles match before Denis Porcic and Tomas Depiaggio won 8-6 against Oscar Cornella and Alfonso Martinez – the No. 10-ranked doubles pairing in the nation – in the top-seeded doubles flight.
Lindsey Wilson rattled off three-straight points to open singles play and end the match early.
Cobi Ho put the Blue Raiders ahead 3-1 with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Nikolic in the sixth-seeded singles match. Javier Raya then took down Cannon 6-1, 6-4 in the fifth-seeded match.
Filip Persson rallied for a come-from-behind victory in the third-seeded singles match. The freshman from Balsta, Sweden dropped the first set 7-5 to Grant Esposito but lost just one more game after sweeping the second set 6-0 and winning the decisive third set 6-1.
No. 3-ranked Porcic was up a set on No. 4-ranked Cornella in the top-seeded flight when play halted.
The Blue Raiders return to action on Wednesday at 2 p.m. CT when they travel to Asbury (Ky.).
