Men's Tennis cruises to 8-1 win over Georgetown

COLUMBIA, Ky. -- No. 5-ranked Lindsey Wilson men's tennis remained perfect in Mid-South Conference play with an 8-1 win over Georgetown (Ky.) today at Henry Baughman Tennis Complex.

The Blue Raiders improve to 10-5 overall and 2-0 in the Mid-South with today's win. Georgetown falls to 5-10 and 0-2 in conference play with the loss.

Ivan Solans Diaz and Alonso Tellez notched the first win of the match at third-seeded doubles. The Blue Raider pair won eight of nine games in the match over A.J. Berk and Tristan Nosek to give Lindsey Wilson and 1-0 lead.

Javier Raya and Filip Persson quickly followed with an impressive win of their own in the second-seeded match. Raya and Persson defeated Ryan Simms and Isaac Mathis 8-2 for the 2-0 lead.

Denis Porcic and Tomas Depiaggio closed doubles play with an 8-4 win over Ryo Takeda and Cole McCreary to head to singles with a 3-0 lead.

Depiaggio inched the Blue Raiders within one win of the team match with a straight-sets win over Simms in the third-seeded singles match. He posted the 6-0, 6-2 win to give Lindsey Wilson the 4-0 lead.

Porcic provided the clincher in the top-seeded match. He improved to 9-3 on the season with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Takeda to give the Blue Raiders the team win.

Solans Diaz, Tellez and Cobi Ho also posted wins during singles play. McCreary recorded the lone win for the Tigers, winning in the fourth-seeded match.

Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 1 p.m. CT on Saturday, April 1 as the Blue Raiders host Bethel (Tenn.) at Henry Baughman Tennis Complex.
