Box Score COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson women's basketball team defeated Reinhardt (Ga.) on Sunday afternoon by a final score of 67-65. The Blue Raiders went a perfect 6-of-6 from the foul line to hold on to win late in the game.
Reagan Turner scored a game-high 21 points and added three assists and three steals. J'Nayah Hall was the only other Blue Raider in double figures as she tied her season-high of 18 points and four steals. Gerda Paulauskaite grabbed a game-high 10 boards.
Lindsey Wilson (8-3) would extend their lead to as many as nine with 4:24 to play in the fourth quarter but Reinhardt (7-5) would trim that lead to just one point at 63-62 with 1:17 to play in the game.
The Blue Raiders would lead by five after Turner and Paulauskaite connected from the charity strike after being fouled with 17 and five seconds left in the game, respectively. The Eagles Catherine Slope was fouled with one second remaining on the clock as she would manage to make all three attempts, but the Blue Raiders inbounded the ball and time expired.
Lindsey Wilson got off to a quick start in the game as they would lead 11-0 after four minutes of action. LWC would go on to build their lead to 17-3 with 2:45 remaining in the quarter but an 8-2 run by the Eagles would trim the Lindsey Wilson lead to nine points at the end of the first quarter. LWC connected on 8-of-15 shots while limiting Reinhardt to making just 3-of-12 attempts from the floor.
Blue Raiders would struggle in the second quarter as their lead would shrink to just one point at 25-24 with 3:54 to play. Heidi Huffman would break a Lindsey Wilson three minute scoreless drought when she connected on a three point shot to increase their lead 28-24 but the Eagles responded on their next possession to trail by two with just over three minutes to play. LWC would close out the half outscoring the Eagles 7-6 to take a three point lead into the break.
Lindsey Wilson shot 46.2 percent from the floor and went 9-of-10 from the charity stripe in the half. The Eagles found an offensive rhythm in second quarter as they were able to make 9-of-14 shots. LWC held a slight 16-12 rebounding advantage.
Reinhardt would manage to tie the game at 37 with 6:55 on the clock and would take their first lead of the game at 41-39 two minutes later but a Paulauskaite layup spurred Lindsey Wilson on an 11-4 run to close out the quarter. The Blue Raiders would lead 50-45 with ten minutes to play.
Catherine Shope led the Eagles with 14 points in the game.
The Blue Raiders return to the court on December 29 when they take on Indiana Southeast at 2 p.m. CT in Biggers Sports Center.
