Box Score MARIETTA, Ga. – The No. 10-ranked Lindsey Wilson women's basketball defeated Life (Ga.) 92-53 in a Mid-South Conference matchup at the Eagles' Nest Saturday.
Heidi Huffman led the way for the Blue Raiders (23-5, 9-3 MSC) setting the program record for made three pointers in a game with 10. Huffman scored a career-high 30 points on a career-high 10-of-17 shooting from beyond the arc. Kayla Styles added 27 points and was one rebound shy of her 17th double-double this season. Teanna Curry scored 13 points with six assists while Reagan Turner added 12 points.
Lindsey Wilson outshot the Running Eagles (10-17, 1-11 MSC) 44.8 percent to 27.4 percent. The Blue Raiders connected on 12 of their 26 attempts from beyond the arc while limiting Life to 4-of-17 from the three point line. Lindsey Wilson was outrebounded 43-39, recorded four blocks and forced 20 Life turnovers with 14 steals.
With the game tied at six in the first quarter the Blue Raiders scored nine of the next 11 points to take a 15-8 lead with 4:33 to play in the quarter. Kennesha Nichols cut the Lindsey Wilson lead to 15-11with 2:51 to play in the quarter. The Blue Raiders ended the quarter scoring six of the final nine points to take a 21-14 lead into the second quarter.
Lindsey Wilson shot 40 percent in the quarter and limited the Running Eagles to a 31.6 shooting percentage. Styles led the way in the first with seven points and five rebounds while Curry added five points.
The Blue Raiders extended their lead to 38-18 with 3:34 to play in the half propelled by a 17-4 run to start the second quarter. Life trimmed the deficit to 39-25 with 1:31 to play in the half before Lindsey Wilson ended the second quarter on a 5-0 run taking a 44-29 lead into the second half.
Lindsey Wilson shot 44.1 percent in the first half while limiting Life to just 30.6. The Blue Raiders connected on 4-of-10 shots from beyond the arc and grabbed 24 rebounds. Styles had 18 points and seven rebounds in the first half.
The Blue Raiders opened the second half on a 10-4 run to increase their lead to 54-29 with 5:45 remaining in the quarter. Life trimmed the deficit to 58-37 with a 6-0 run, Lindsey Wilson responded with a 9-0 run to end the third quarter and take a 67-37 lead into the final quarter.
Lindsey Wilson opened the fourth quarter on a 13-4 run to extend the lead to 80-41 with 6:53 to play. The two teams continued to trade baskets for the rest of the quarter as the Blue Raiders locked up the 92-53 victory.
Nichols led the Running Eagles with a double-double scoring 17 points with 12 rebounds. Damiya Montgomery was the other Life player in double figures with 15 points.
The Blue Raiders are back in action on Thursday when they host Georgetown (Ky.) for Senior Night at Biggers Sports Center at 6 p.m. CT.
