Styles and Curry set program records in Women's Basketball's 93-68 victory over Georgetown on Senior Night

COLUMBIA, Ky. – Kayla Styles and Teanna Curry each set a program record in No. 10-ranked Lindsey Wilson women's basketball's 93-68 victory over Georgetown (Ky.) Thursday at Biggers Sports center on Senior Night.

Styles led the way for the Blue Raiders (24-5, 10-3 MSC) setting the program record for points in a game with a career-high 45. She matched a career-high in field goals made with 15, was 13-of-15 from the charity stripe and grabbed 13 rebounds for her 17th double-double of the season. Curry set the program record for assists in a game with 15. Heidi Huffman was the only other Lindsey Wilson player in double figures with 21 points. Huffman connected on 7-of-14 shots from beyond the arc.

Georgetown (8-20, 2-11 MSC) outshot Lindsey Wilson 46.6 percent to 44.1 percent. The Blue Raiders connected on 12-of-36 attempts from three while outrebounding the Tigers 49-25. Lindsey Wilson set a season-high in assists with 24 while converting 21 times from the free throw line.

The Blue Raiders started the game with back-to-back threes from Huffman and Styles to jump out in front 6-0. Georgetown responded with a 9-0 run of its own grabbing a 9-6 lead with 5:15 to play in the first quarter. Lindsey Wilson answered back with a 6-2 run taking a 12-11 lead with under four minutes to play in the quarter. After a Raegan Williams free throw gave the Tigers a 16-14 lead, the Blue Raiders ended the quarter on a 7-3 run to take a 21-19 lead into the second.

Both teams shot at least 50 percent in the first quarter. Lindsey Wilson shot 53.3 percent on 8-of-15 shooting while Georgetown connected on 7-of-14 attempts from the field. The Blue Raiders shot 57.1 percent from beyond the arc and grabbed 10 rebounds. Styles led the way after the first quarter with 13 points on 5-of-8 shooting.

The Blue Raiders extended their lead to 28-19 beginning the second quarter on a 7-0 run. An Abby Van Zant basket cut the Blue Raider lead to 33-25 with 4:18 to play in the half. Lindsey Wilson took a 43-25 lead into halftime closing out the first half on a 10-0 run.

Lindsey Wilson shot 46.9 percent in the first half while Georgetown shot 40 percent. The Blue Raiders made 7-of-18 attempts from beyond the are in the half while limiting the Tigers to just 1-of-7 from three. Styles had 22 points at the half while Huffman had 15 of 5-of-9 shooting from three.

The Blue Raiders increased their lead to 49-25 opening the third quarter on back-to-back threes from Huffman. The two teams continued to trade baskets before Lindsey Wilson ended the quarter on a 13-4 run taking a 70-40 lead into the final quarter. Georgetown outscored Lindsey Wilson 28-23 in the fourth quarter as the Blue Raiders came away with the 93-68 victory.

Martina Lytle scored a team-high 12 points as Michaela Kennedy added 10.

Prior to the game, Styles was honored for her contributions to the women's basketball program and Lindsey Wilson College.

The Blue Raiders are back in action on Saturday when they wrap up the regular season at Campbellsville (Ky.) at 1 p.m. CT.
