Box Score COLUMBIA, Ky. – No. 4-ranked Lindsey Wilson men's tennis did not drop a set in a 9-0 win over visiting Pikeville (Ky.) tonight under the lights at Henry Baughman Tennis Complex.
The Blue Raiders (10-0, 4-0 in the Mid-South Conference) were spotted a 3-0 lead before the first serve as a depleted Pikeville (3-7, 1-4) roster consisted of just four players. Lindsey Wilson collected forfeit-wins at No. 5 and 6 singles and No. 3 doubles prior to the start of the match.
When the final point of doubles ended, Lindsey Wilson owned the necessary five points for the team win.
Edberg Espinoza and Steven Espinoza claimed the fourth Lindsey Wilson point with an 8-1 win over Devon Sgubin and Oscar Pacheco in the No. 2 doubles match.
Denis Porcic and Camilo Erazo quickly followed with an 8-1 win of their own over Andres Alvarez and Bailey Horne in the top doubles match.
Porcic, Erazo, Ivan Solans Diaz and Edberg Espinoza all picked up straight sets wins in singles to produce the 9-0 win.
The win extends Lindsey Wilson's best start to a season to 10 matches. The previous longest streak occurred in 2005 when the Blue Raiders opened the season with eight straight wins.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 2 p.m. CT on Friday, April 13, as the Blue Raiders host Campbellsville (Ky.) in a MSC match at Baughman Tennis Complex.
