Box Score COLUMBIA, Ky. – No. 4-ranked Lindsey Wilson men's tennis swept doubles play and won four of six singles matches over visiting No. 9 Campbellsville (Ky.) today at Henry Baughman Tennis Complex to win the match 7-2. With the win LWC men's tennis clinches at least a share of the Mid-South Conference regular season title.
The Blue Raiders (11-0, 5-0 in the MSC) were able to jump out to an early 3-0 lead after doubles play.
Edberg Espinoza and Steven Espinoza scored Lindsey Wilson's first points of the match with an 8-3 victory over Chrys Castro and Adrian Sabrojo in the No. 3 doubles match. Ivan Solans Diaz and Javier Raya increased the LWC lead to 2-0 when they defeated Blayze O'keefe and Martin Munoz 8-6 in the No. 2 doubles match.
Denis Porcic and Camilo Erazo closed out doubles play with a 9-7 win of their own over Alejandro Reyes and Pablo Alonso Munoz in the top doubles match.
In the No. 1 singles match, No. 5-ranked Porcic defeated No. 11 Reyes in straight sets 6-1, 6-1 to give Lindsey Wilson a 4-0 lead with five matches remaining.
Erazo then defeated Castro in straight sets in the No. 2 singles match 6-1, 6-2 to clinch the match.
In the No. 4 singles match Edberg Espinoza defeated No.34-ranked Adrian Sabrojo in straight sets 6-0, 6-2 to increase the LWC lead to 6-1. Raya defeated Pablo Alonso Munoz after falling in set one 6-7 taking set two 6-4, and was then able to win the super set 10-6 to put LWC up 7-1.
The Blue Raiders fell in the final match of the night but had done enough to win the match 7-2.
The win extends Lindsey Wilson's best start to a season to 11 matches.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 11 a.m. CT tomorrow as the Blue Raiders travel to Shawnee State (Ohio) for a MSC match.
