Box Score

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. -- Top-seeded Lindsey Wilson men's tennis completed a comeback today with a 5-4 win over second-seeded Cumberland (Tenn.) in the Mid-South Conference Tournament final at Warren East Tennis Courts.

Today's final concluded a suspended match from last Sunday that was halted due to prolonged rains. No. 7 Cumberland (20-3) led 4-3 when the rains came forcing today's conclusion.

Denis Porcic and Camilo Erazo capped the come-from-behind win in just 37 minutes.

Leading 7-5, 4-4 at the start of the day, Erazo won all six points he played to beat Pau Grabuleda Cruanas -- ranked No. 7 in the NAIA -- 7-5, 6-4 in the second-seeded match to pull the No. 3-ranked Blue Raiders (14-0) even at 4-4 in the team match.

Porcic -- ranked fifth in the NAIA -- closed out the match winning four of five games today to beat 24th-ranked Ramon Puertolas 6-3, 4-6, 6-1 to claim the Blue Raiders' 14th MSC Tournament title.

Ivan Solans Diaz captured the other singles win for the Blue Raiders -- beating Thiago Lopes 6-3, 6-3 last Sunday.

Lindsey Wilson led 2-1 after doubles play last week.

Diaz and Javier Raya opened the championship match with an 8-3 doubles win over Thiago Lopes and Axel Lucich for a 1-0 lead.

Riccardo Ferraris and Puertolas tied the match at 1-1 with a 9-7 win over Edberg Espinoza and Steven Espinoza in the third-seeded match.

Erazo and Porcic teamed to give the Blue Raiders the 2-1 advantage with a 9-8 win over Cruanas and Francisco Fernandez in the top-seeded match. The Lindsey Wilson tandem -- who improves to 13-0 this season as a doubles team -- won the tiebreak 7-4.

Fernandez tied the team match at 2-2 with the first win at singles. He upended Raya 6-4, 6-2 in the fifth-seeded match.

Diaz followed with his win in the fourth-seeded match to give Lindsey Wilson a 3-2 lead.

Ferraris and Lucich picked up wins at No. 3 and No. 6 singles to push the Phoenix in front 4-3 prior to the rains moving in.

Porcic and Erazo closed out the championship today, almost a week after the top-10 match began.

Lindsey Wilson earns the conference's automatic bid into the national tournament, which begins May 15 in Mobile, Alabama. The national tournament bracket will be announced on May 8.
