JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Fifth-ranked Lindsey Wilson football used a balanced offensive attack and a second-half shutout to beat host Edward Waters (Fla.) 50-13 tonight at University Christian Football Complex.

The Blue Raiders (1-0) racked up 555 total yards of offense -- 311 on the ground and 244 through the air -- to win their sixth straight season opener. While the offense was producing, the defense shook off giving up an opening-drive score to limit the Tigers (0-2) to just 97 yards and no points in the second half.

Lindsey Wilson scored 16 straight points after the Tigers took a 6-0 lead early in the first quarter. The Blue Raiders also scored the game's final 34 points to remain unbeaten all-time against the Mid-South Conference Sun Division.

Edward Waters quarterback Derrick Jones orchestrated a 10-play, 75-yard drive to open the game, giving the Tigers the 6-0 lead. Jones provided 67 of the 75 yards with his arm or elusive scrambling ability to edge the Tigers in front. He finished the game with 242 passing yards and 78 rushing yards -- both team highs.

The Blue Raiders seized their first lead of the game -- never trailing again -- with a 69-yard scamper from Blake Ingleton on the second play of the season from scrimmage and a Jared Dougherty extra point. The run was the second longest in the program's history.

Ingleton finished with a game-high 153 yards rushing, including three rushing touchdowns. He moves into second place on the program's all-time rushing list with 1,675 yards -- five yards behind Jalen Sublett.

Following back-to-back punts -- the latter coming from Dougherty that pinned the Tigers on their own two-yard line -- the Blue Raider defense provided the first big defensive play of the game. The Blue Raider defensive line surged through their offensive counterparts and C.J. Dickerson stuffed Edward Waters running back Jacquez Pelham in the endzone for a safety and a 9-6 lead.

Ingleton tallied his second score of the night on a six-play, 32-yard drive to push the Blue Raiders in front 16-6.

Jones and company climbed within three points at 16-13 with a touchdown toss to Abdul Leiba Jr. to cap an 81-yard drive. That was as close as the Tigers would get.

The Lindsey Wilson defense did not allow another point over the final 40 minutes of game action.

As soon as Edward Waters showed signs of momentum, the Blue Raiders swiped it right back.

Cameron Dukes -- making his first collegiate start -- hit Cam Wyche for a 76-yard touchdown on the first play of the Blue Raiders next drive to take a 23-13 lead. Dukes finished 15-of-24 passing for 244 yards and two touchdowns. Wyche posted three catches for 116 receiving yards.

Ingleton closed the half's scoring with a 41-yard run with just under five minutes left until the break to give Lindsey Wilson a 30-13 lead.

The Blue Raiders did not relinquish the momentum in the second half.

Lindsey Wilson sandwiched a defensive three-and-out with a pair of scores to blow the game open.

Dukes found Ingleton out of the backfield for a touchdown -- Ingleton's fourth of the night -- and Darius Clark scored his first collegiate touchdown on a five-yard run midway through the third quarter to extend the lead to 43-13.

Clark added a second touchdown in the fourth quarter to give the Blue Raiders the 50-13 win. He finished the game with 92 yards on 11 carries and the two scores.

Trent Mueller led the Blue Raider defense with eight tackles. Joe Lewis finished with five tackles, two tackles for a loss, a sack, and an interception.

The Blue Raider defense finished the game with four sacks and nine tackles for a loss.

Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 1:30 p.m. CT on Saturday, Sept. 8, as the Blue Raiders host Ave Maria (Fla.) in their 2018 home opener at Blue Raider Stadium.
