GAINESVILLE, Ga. – The No. 7-ranked Lindsey Wilson women's swim team finished second at the Brenau Invite this past weekend in Gainesville, Ga. with a total of 734 points. The Blue Raiders swam for 25 national A standard times and eight B-cuts.
SCAD (Ga.) took home the gold with 922 points. Brenau (Ga.) scored 503 points, securing third place. Thomas (Ga.) finished in fourth-place (318), Columbia (S.C.) placed fifth (258), and Point (Ga.) finished in sixth-place (168).
Carlene Taylor notched three individual A-cuts over the weekend. Taylor placed third in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of one minute 58.66 seconds. She finished the 50 yard freestyle in 24.84 to secure fourth place. In the 100 yard freestyle Taylor touched the wall in 55.21 to finish in seventh place.
Jessica Macdonald earned two first-place finishes and one second-place finish while swimming three individual A standard times. Macdonald won the 100 and 200 yard freestyle with the times of 52.32 and 1:55.98, respectively. She placed second in the 200 yard individual medley, recording a time of 2:08.85.
Annissa Koekemoer posted two individual A-cuts and one B-cut. She placed second in the 100 yard back, while swimming an A standard time of 1:00.92. Koekemoer also recorded an A-cut in the 200 yard back by finishing in 2:14.63, earning fourth place. Her B-cut came in the 50 yard freestyle (25.79).
Narjiss Bourbouh swam two A standard times in the 100 and 200 yard fly and one B-cut in the 200 yard individual medley. She was victorious in the 100 yard fly with a time of 59.66. Bourbouh placed second in the 200 yard fly, finishing in 2:15.91. She swam the 200 yard IM in 2:17.95 which earned fourth place.
Sarah Hahn recorded one individual A-cut and two B-cuts. She placed third in the 200 yard backstroke with the A standard time of 2:13.54. Hahn marked B-cuts by finishing the 200 yard IM in 2:20.60 and the 100 yard backstroke in 1:03.53.
Emma Phillips marked a national A standard time of 19:02.62 in the 1650 yard freestyle. Phillips also swam a B-cut time of 5:32.78 in the 500 yard freestyle.
Nissrine Bourbouh swam an A standard time in the 100 yard back (1:02.20). Jay Farthing tallied two national B-cuts in the 50 yard freestyle (26.31) and 500 yard freestyle (5:34.71), while Natalie Lohman recorded a B standard time of 26.09 in the 50 yard freestyle.
In the 200 yard free relay, all three squads swam national A standard times. The grouping of Taylor, Narjiss Bourbouh, Koekemoer, and Macdonald placed second with the time of 1:40.07. Farthing, Nissrine Bourbouh, Hahn, and Lohman swam it in 1:45.42 which earned them fourth place. The final group of Hailey Russo, Hannah Russo, Phillips, and Sarah Lawson finished the race in 1:54.87.
Both groups swam A-cuts in the 400 yard freestyle relay. Koekemoer, Narjiss Bourbouh, Taylor, and Macdonald finished in first place with the time of 3:38.18. Lohman, Farthing, Nissrine Bourbouh, and Hahn touched the wall in 3:54.60.
The 800 yard freestyle relay also featured two A standard times by the Blue Raiders. The grouping of Koekemoer, Narjiss Bourbouh, Taylor, and Macdonald finished in second place with a time of 8:01.07. The squad of Nissrine Bourbouh, Phillips, Farthing, and Hahn completed the race in 8:37.94.
All three Blue Raider squads in the 200 yard medley relay tallied national A standard times. Koekemoer, Macdonald, Narjiss Bourbouh, and Taylor won the event with a time of 1:49.89. Hahn, Farthing, Hannah Russo, and Lohman finished with the time of 2:00.17. The final squad of Nissrine Bourbouh, Lawson, Hailey Russo, and Phillips posted a time of 2:04.91.
In the 400 yard medley relay, the grouping of Koekemoer, Macdonald, Narjiss Bourbouh and Taylor won with an A standard time of 4:03.32. Hahn, Farthing, Hannah Russo, and Nissrine Bourbouh also swam an A-cut time (4:28.07).
The Blue Raiders are back in action Dec. 17 at 11 a.m. CT against Loyola (La.) in New Orleans, Louisiana.
