GAINESVILLE, Ga. – The Lindsey Wilson men's swim team notched 28 A-cuts, seven B-cuts, and five individual first place finishes en route to a second place finish at the Brenau Invite on Saturday in Gainesville, Georgia. The Blue Raiders finished in second with 785 points, falling behind Scad (Ga.) who finished in first place with 910 points. Point (Ga.) finished in third with 456 points, while Thomas (Ga.) finished in fourth with 105 points.
William Thilwind added an individual first place finish in the 200-yard backstroke with a winning A-cut standard time of one minute and 53.10 seconds. Michael Peck finished the race in second place with a B-cut standard time of 1:58.79.
James de Goede notched two individual first place finishes during the invite. In the 50-yard freestyle, de Goede touched the wall at a winning A-cut standard time of 21.80. Tyler King notched a fourth place finish in the race with a B-cut time of 22.00, while Bryce Rice finished in seventh also with a B standard time of 22.57. In the 100-yard backstroke, de Goede won the race at another national A standard time of 51.84. Thilwind would finish the 100-yard backstroke in second place behind de Goede with his own A-standard time of 52.20.
Along with de Goede, Ron Wolfart also added two individual victories of his own. In the 100-yard breaststroke, Wolfart was victorious with an A-cut standard time of 57.17. Rice added a third place finish in the race with an A-cut with a finishing time of 58.25. In the 200-yard individual medley, Wolfart touched the wall in another A standard winning time of 1:55.07. Reece Kincaid finished close behind Wolfart with an A-cut time of 1:55.22. Thilwind added a sixth place finish in the race and tallied a B-cut with a time of 2:01.07.
De Goede added a third place finish in the 100-yard freestyle with an A-cut time of 47.73. King garnered a sixth place finish in the race and earned a national A standard time of 48.39. Rice added a 10th place finish and earned a B-cut with a time of 49.78.
In the 200-yard freestyle, King touched the wall in fifth place while adding an A-cut time of 1:47.30. Peck finished close behind in sixth place with a national B standard time of 1:48.06. Ricky Dungan finished the race in seventh with a B-cut time of 1:49.67.
In the 500-yard freestyle, Peck added another individual A-cut finishing time, touching the in sixth place at 4:50.79. Dungan finished with a B-cut in the race with a time of 4.53.30. Dungan went on to add another individual A-cut time in the 1,650-yard freestyle with a sixth place finishing time of 17:03.47. Peck trailed behind him in seventh place with another A standard time of 17:22.10.
In the 200-yard breaststroke, Wolfart garnered a second place finish and an A-cut with a time of 2:09.50.
Kincaid added another Lindsey Wilson individual A-cut time when he touched the wall in fourth place in the 200-yard butterfly at a time of 1:56.11. Kincaid also tallied a second place finish in the 400-yard individual medley with an A-cut time of 4:07.31.
The Blue Raiders saw two team A-cuts in the 200-yard freestyle relay. The quartet of King, Dungan, Wolfart, and de Goede finished in second with a time of 1:27.16, while the quartet of Rice, Jordan Schaeffer, Thilwind, and Kincaid added a third place finish of 1:27.84. In the 400-yard freestyle relay, Wolfart, King, Kincaid, and de Goede touched the wall in second place at a national A standard time of 3:09.46, while Rice, Schaeffer, Peck, and Dungan touched the wall in fourth place with an A-cut time of 3:19.82.
The 800-yard freestyle relay saw de Goede, King, Peck, and Kincaid touching the wall in second place and recording an A-cut with a time of 7:04.92. The quartet of Dungan, Schaeffer, Thilwind, and Wolfart finished the relay in fourth place with another A-cut time of 7:26.34.
In the 200-yard medley relay, Thilwind, Rice, Kincaid, and de Goede tallied a second place finish with an A-cut finishing time of 1:35.38. The quartet of King, Wolfart, Schaeffer, and Dungan finished the race in fourth place with a national A standard time of 1:38.26.
Thilwind, Wolfart, Kincaid, and de Goede added another team A-cut with their second place finish in the 400-yard medley relay with a time of 3:28.79. King, Rice, Schaeffer, and Dungan trailed close behind with a third place finish and an A-cut time of 3:38.71.
The Blue Raiders return to the pool on December 17th where they will face No. 5-ranked Loyola (La.) at 11 a.m. CT in New Orleans, Louisiana.
