WOMEN'S BASKETBALL DEFEATS BREWTON-PARKER 63-42 AT MSC/SSAC CHALLENGE

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – DeAsia Outlaw paced the Blue Raiders with 18 points adding nine rebounds to just miss out on a double-double in the Blue Raiders 63-42 win over Brewton-Parker at the MSC/SSAC Challenge on Saturday afternoon.

The Blue Raiders (6-0) rebounded from a poor shooting performance yesterday against Faulkner (Ala.) to shoot lights out against the Barons (3-2) tonight. Lindsey Wilson bolstered a 56.3 shooting percentage as they added a 42.9 mark from deep.

After opening the contest to a 6-6 tie Lindsey Wilson would take full control of the game in the first quarter when they finished the final 5 minutes and 44 seconds of play on a 17-4 run. J'Nayah Hall came off the bench to score eight of her 13 points in the quarter. Outlaw also scored eight points to help lift LWC to a commanding lead.

Lindsey Wilson's defense stifled the Barons offensive attack in the second quarter as they only conceded four points, both coming during the final two minutes of action. Brewton Parker finished the quarter shooting just 2-of-15 from the field. Lindsey Wilson would push their lead to as many as 22 points before taking a 34-14 lead into the break.

Brewton-Parker would trim the LWC lead to 15 early in the third quarter but it was as close as they would get in the game. The Blue Raiders would quickly push their lead back to 20 points with 6:27 to play in the third off a Haeli Howard three and a Reagan Turner two.

Lindsey Wilson would maintain a 19 to 24 point lead over the remainder of the contest as they went on to win 63-42.

Turner had 16 points adding seven rebounds and a game-high six assists. Howard finished with 11 points and five assists.

The Blue Raiders are back in action on Nov. 16, at 6 p.m. when they Washington Adventist in Biggers Sports Center as part of the Lindsey Wilson Classic.
