Box Score COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson women's basketball team defeated Hiwassee (Tenn.) 75-57 on Saturday afternoon at Biggers Sports Center.
The Blue Raiders (19-8) were led by Heidi Huffman who tallied 28 points, shooting 52.6 percent from the field, while going 8-17 from beyond the arc.
Reagan Turner was the only other Blue Raider to claim double-digit numbers, scoring 20 points connecting on 7-of- 15 shot attempts with seven assists and two steals on the day.
Lindsey Wilson never lost the lead in the game against Hiwassee (20-4). The Blue Raiders' strong first-half of shooting pushed LWC to victory going 14-of-35 from the field.
The second quarter was when the Blue Raiders began to pull away from the Tigers with the score of 18-11. The Blue Raiders would go on a 9-2 run over the course of the first five minutes of the 2nd quarter to grow their lead to double-digits at 25-13. The course of the next two minutes, LWC would exchange equal field-goals with Hiwassee, to push the score to 32-20 with two minutes remaining.
During the final two minutes, LWC would go on a 10-4 run to end the first half with a 42-22 lead over the Tigers.
Hiwassee's first-half struggles hindered a comeback even with a second-half resurgence, shooting 12-of-27 from the field.
The Blue Raiders' shooting proved to be too much for the Tigers to overcome. Lindsey Wilson out-shot Hiwassee going 26-of-68 from the field, while Hiwassee went 21- of -57 in the game. The Blue Raiders won the on the boards, out-rebounding the Tigers 46-41, with eight different student-athletes recording a rebound.
The Blue Raiders are back in action on Monday, February 18, at 6 p.m. CT against Fisk (Tenn.) at Biggers Sports Center.
