Box Score COLUMBIA, Ky. -- For a second straight day, the Lindsey Wilson men's tennis team blanked a Mid-South Conference opponent. The No. 8-ranked Blue Raiders beat visiting Georgetown 9-0 today at Henry Baughman Tennis Complex.
Lindsey Wilson (4-2, 3-0 in the MSC) trailed at some point in every doubles match only to bounce back and take all three doubles points.
Javier Raya and Nicolas Garcia provided the biggest comeback win, falling behind Cole McCreary and Josh Piunti 4-1 before winning seven of the final eight games to win 8-5 at the third-seeded doubles.
Tiago Almeida and Camilo Erazo dropped the first game in the top-seeded match to Ryo Takeda and Philipp Hoeper but quickly gained control in an 8-3 win to give the Blue Raiders the 2-0 lead.
Santiago Diaz and Xavier Vicent made it a clean sweep in a back-and-forth match with Cole Wilson and Hunter Nosek in the second-seeded match. The Blue Raider pair won the match 8-5 to win their fourth straight doubles match this season while sending Lindsey Wilson into singles play with a 3-0 lead.
Almeida and Erazo secured the team win with victories at the second-seeded and top-seeded singles matches, respectively. Almeida dropped just two games in a 6-0, 6-2 win over Hoeper. Erazo won the decisive point over Takeda with a 6-3, 6-3 win to improve to 4-2 this season in singles play.
Vicent and Garcia each improved to 5-1 on the season in singles play with their wins while Diaz won his third straight with a straight-sets win over McCreary in the fifth-seeded match. Steven Espinoza closed the day with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Kaushik Kalish.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 9 a.m. CT on Monday, April 1, as the Blue Raiders travel to No. 9-ranked William Woods (Mo.) in Fulton, Missouri.
