Box Score PIKEVILLE, Ky. – The No.13-ranked Lindsey Wilson tennis team went on the road and defeated Pikeville (Ky.) 9-0 in Mid-South Conference action.
Lindsey Wilson (6-5, 4-0 MSC) swept the doubles portion of the match.
Steven Espinoza and Camilo Erazo picked up the first point of the match when UPIKE forfeited at the No. 3 doubles. Tiago Almeida and Nicolas Garcia then paired up to defeat Martyn Icke and Luis Gayoso 8-1 in the top-seeded doubles match as Xavier Vicent and Santiago Diaz took down Eric Bernabeu and Juan Diego 8-6 in their match.
Diaz picked up the first point in the singles portion of the match as Pikeville had to forfeit. Alemeida then picked up the decisive match point when he took down Bernabeu in the No. 2 singles match with a 6-0, 6-1 victory.
No. 23-ranked Erazo defeated Icke 6-3, 6-0 in the top-seeded match as Vicent won 6-0, 6-1 in his match against Medina. Garcia then defeated Gayoso 6-1, 6-0 as Espinoza would complete the sweep with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Kenton Hall.
The Blue Raiders return to the court tomorrow at the Henry Baughman Tennis Complex for senior day in a match against Shawnee State (Ohio) set to begin at 2 p.m. CT.
