Archery earns a gold, silver at regional championships

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. -- The women's compound team produced today's top result for the Lindsey Wilson archery team during the first day of the USA Collegiate Outdoor Target Regionals held at the UC All-Purpose Complex.

Madison Hart, Abigail Kaysinger, and Ashlyn Scriven teamed up to upset a pair of teams en route to winning the gold medal. The trio qualified third in the five-team event and proceeded to knock off second-seeded Cumberlands (Ky.) 204-199 in the semifinals.

The Blue Raiders completed the gold-medal run with a 207-197 win over top-seeded Union (Ky.) in the finals.

Drew Canos and Olivia Harner earned a silver medal in the mixed recurve, falling to Pikeville (Ky.) in the finals after qualifying as the top seed.

Lindsey Wilson also produced a pair of fourth-place finishes in the team competition.

The women's bowhunter team and mixed basic bow each ended just off the podium.

Courtney Blevens, Makenzie Hayes, and Madison Richardson beat Midway (Ky.) in the women's bowhunter quarterfinals before falling to eventual winner Cumberlands in the semifinals and Pikeville in the bronze-medal match.

Alexandria Weaver and Cameron Curran fell to Pikeville in the mixed basic bow semifinals before losing to Cumberlands for bronze.

The individual regional championships are on tap for Friday beginning at 8 a.m. CT at the UC All-Purpose Complex.
