No. 8 Men's Tennis falls to No. 3 Cardinal Stritch

MARION, Ind. -- Eighth-ranked Lindsey Wilson men's tennis lost to No. 3-ranked Cardinal Stritch (Wis.) 5-0 tonight at the Sutter Tennis Complex.

The Wolves (9-4) won all three doubles points in a competitive opening to the top-10 match.

Agustin Gascia and Nicolas Palacio grabbed the first point with an 8-6 win over Santiago Diaz and Steven Espinoza in the third-seeded match.

Jose Chamba and Danilo Pejovic -- ranked No. 17 in the NAIA -- also picked up an 8-6 win, knocking off Nicolas Garcia and Javier Raya in the second-seeded match.

Cardinal Stritch wrapped up the doubles sweep with an 8-5 win in the top-seeded match. The top-ranked team in the NAIA, Nicola Wehrle and Niccolo Rossi beat the Blue Raiders top-seeded tandem of Camilo Erazo and Tiago Almeida (LWC) for the 3-0 lead.

Cardinal Stritch closed out the team win with victories at the No. 1 and No. 4-seeded matches.

Gascia -- ranked fourth in the NAIA -- beat 23rd-ranked Erazo 6-3, 6-0. Wehrle clinched the team win with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Vicent.

Almeida was leading and Garcia split the first two sets in his match when play was halted after the Wolves reached five team points.

Lindsey Wilson returns to action with a pair of matches on Saturday. The Blue Raiders face No. 16 Union (Ky.) at 10 a.m. CT and host and No. 24 Indiana Wesleyan at 3 p.m. CT.
