Women's Basketball Cruises Past IU Southeast in Season Opener

Box Score

NEW ALBANY, Ind. - The start of a new season didn't slow down the Lindsey Wilson women's basketball team in any way today, as the team won in dominating fashion over IU Southeast (Ind.) on the road by a final score of 96-66.

Like many times in her career, Reagan Turner led the Blue Raiders in scoring with 26 points on 9-of-15 shooting from the field, which included an 8-of-9 performance from the free throw line. Turner also recorded seven rebounds alongside five steals on defense.

Behind Turner, in her first collegiate game, Sydnie Hall put together a 20-point performance on 7-of-10 shooting. The freshman also drilled home a team-high four 3-pointers while grabbing six rebounds in an impressive beginning to her LWC career.

Rose Mary Jackson made her presence known on the floor today by corralling her first career LWC double-double. The redshirt junior notched 10 points & 11 boards in the convincing win.

Other Blue Raiders in double-figures scoring included Jordyn Stephens adding 13 points in her first collegiate outing, Bree Glover tallying 11 points in her first game in a Lindsey Wilson jersey, & Maleigha Oldham managing 10 points alongside Jackson to kickoff her junior year.

Scoring for IU Southeast was thin today at the Activities Building, with the team only managing two players who were able to score in double-figures. Emmy Ralph carried the torch with 19 points, while Lauren Lambdin produced 12 points in the 30-point loss.

As a team, Lindsey Wilson shot 46.7 percent from the field (35-of-75). IU Southeast was kept in check, shooting only 39.7 percent (25-of-63). The Blue Raiders out-rebounded the Grenadiers 47-to-34, while also out-stealing the home team 13-to-4 on the stat sheet.

The game began as a back-and-forth battle, with LWC pulling in a slim 19-18 lead after the first quarter. Despite the first quarter heroics, quarter number two proved to be the nail in the coffin for the Grenadiers, which saw the Blue Raiders pull ahead to take a 41-30 lead into the halftime locker room. Lindsey Wilson never looked back in the second half, leading 73-44 at the end of the third quarter which eventually spiralled into the 96-66 victory.

The Lindsey Wilson women's basketball team returns to action on Tuesday, Nov. 10 to face off against Brescia (Ky.) at Biggers Sports Center beginning at 4 p.m. CT. Please view the LWC Attendance Protocols if you are interested in attending this game.
