Men's Tennis opens MSC slate with a win at Shawnee State

CINCINNATI, Ohio -- No. 12-ranked Lindsey Wilson men's tennis blanked Shawnee State (Ohio) today 7-0 to open Mid-South Conference play at Beechmont Racquet Club.

The Blue Raiders swept the doubles play without dropping a game to grab the 1-0 lead by taking the doubles point.

The Blue Raiders (2-0, 1-0 in the MSC) carried the momentum into singles -- losing just two games in the six matches to secure the 7-0 win.

Camilo Erazo -- ranked No. 31 in the NAIA -- defeated Austin Hanshaw 6-0, 6-0 to give Lindsey Wilson its first singles win and a 2-0 lead. Tiago Almeida quickly followed with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Zayden Rinehart for the 3-0 lead.

Steven Espinoza claimed the decisive point in the No. 3 singles with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Caspar Nolte for the 4-0 lead. Xavier Vicent, Nicolas Garcia, and Santiago Diaz also picked up straight-sets wins to close out the match.

Lindsey Wilson returns to action on Wednesday, Feb. 26, as the Blue Raiders host Brescia (Ky.) in their home opener at Henry Baughman Tennis Complex.
