Lindsey Wilson makes a splash in return to the pool, sweeps Campbellsville and Martin Methodist

COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson women's swim team returned to the pool in style, defeating Campbellsville (Ky.) 168-53 and Martin Methodist (Tenn.) 177-5 on Saturday afternoon at the Holloway Natatorium.

The Blue Raiders swam to 12 first-place finishes and a quintet of national standards.

Maaike Broersma captured three individual honors, turning in provisional cut times of 58.29 in the 100-yard backstroke, 25.05 in the 50-yard freestyle, and 2:09.72 in the 200-yard backstroke.

Lindsey Wilson swept the podium in the 50-yard freestyle. Along with Broersma, Savannah Schoeman (25.84) and Juliana Villa (27.03) cleaned up with second and third place finishes, respectively.

Carlene Taylor reeled in a trio of individual victories, setting a provisional cut time of 55.76 in the 100-yard freestyle, in addition to first place finishes in the 200-yard and 500-yard freestyles.

The fifth provisional cut time of the afternoon for the Blue Raiders was set by Allie Rutherford who produced a time of 2:18.61 in the 200-yard butterfly. The freshman also pulled off a first place result in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:02.62.

Additionally for Lindsey Wilson, Jaye Farthing's time of 11:55.05 was the top mark in the 1,000-yard freestyle. Sarah Lawson posted a meet-best time of 3:00.79 in the 200-yard breaststroke, and Annissa Koekemoer turned in a time of 2:20.53 to capture first in the 200-yard individual medley.

The Blue Raiders will once again welcome Campbellsville (Ky.) to Columbia on Jan. 27. The dual meet is slated to begin at 3:30 p.m. CT at the Holloway Natatorium.
